Aroma is rather nice with smoky notes – feels like smoked salmon or ham. Flavour has roasted and smoky notes with some grain and hints of tar. Very nice moderately smoked beer, feels like a mixture of schwarz‐ and rauchbier.

Pours murky brown color with small head. Aroma of smoke, ham, malts and caramel. Flavor of smoky ham, malts and yeast. Schlenkerla Märzen’s little brother.

Bottle from shrubber85. Smoked meat and malt aroma. Brown with a big tan head. Smoked meat and caramel malt flavor, light bitterness in the finish. Not over the top smokey. Light to medium body, slightly carbonated. Very nice.

Bottle courtesy of shrubber85. Really nice looking brown with deep red and amber hues. Moderate smoked malt, bacon, fruity malts, and a hint of vinegar and maple syrup. Sweet and toasted malt and fruit with background smokiness. Light dry finish. Mouthfeel is a bit too creamy. Lingering malt/syrup.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Beechwood and smoked ham in the aroma. Creamy flavor with beechwood, smoked cheese and smoked sausage. Soft and polite rauchbier.

Geruch moderat schinkenrauchig und malzig. Antrunk bedeckt malzsüß, rauchig-schinkig. Mitte stärker schinkenrauchig, verdeckt süßlich. Abgang würzig-schinkig und passend bitter abgestimmt. Angenehmes Rauchbier.Test vom 23.3.2011, Gebinde: Glasflasche

Dark copper color, small beige head. Bacony smokey aroma. Light to medium-bodied. A bit caramelly, Bambergian smokey malts, bacon. Easy going rauchbier.

Dark red-brown colored, medium sized thick yellow head. Nice smoky aroma with ham and sweetness, thin roastiness here as well. Medium bodied, smooth palate. Flavor is similar with nice and balanced smoke, grassy hops come up as well. Rather sweet ending. Very good, straightforward, nicely palated smoked.

The beer in the glass is ruby red, almost black. The beer smells smoky and moderately like ham. A great malt body is visible. It starts extremely malty and with ham and smoky aromas. The aftertaste is sweetly smoky, with nuances of honey and caramel. Later in the beer stays smoky, with strong malt body. Goes into a very sweet honey finish!

Bottle at Papsø. Clear orange coloured with a small off-white head. Sweet aroma of malts and caramel with notes of smoke. Malty flavour of caramel and smoke. Sweet and smoked finish.
