Dark wheat beer? Why not! ThePolish autumn and spring provide enough refreshment in the form of chilly air. This, however, is not a reason for refusing a wheat beer. The colder seasons are a good time for relishing the dark varieties of the style, developed by the Germans, who invariably remain big fans of the dark (dunkel) variety. It owes its colour to a more intensely roasted malt (a combination of wheat and barley malt). Browar Fortuna is the only establishment in Poland where this type of malt is made in-house. This beer’s recipe includes a strain of top-fermenting yeast, which strongly affects its flavour and aroma. The unique character of Miłosław Pszeniczne is therefore not limited to its colour.

Only cloves on nose. No bananas or anything else that would indicate it is a DUNKELweizen. Annoyingly sour, The head is relatively durable, the beer is surprisingly clear. Better after yeasts are poured into the glass.

Light, not too sour nor yeasty, smooth, some caramel notes, abrupt finish, no particular faults.

Not much dunkelweizen here, but it is still a good beer. Nice head, hazy amber color. Interesting note of cherries in chocolate in aroma and taste. Dry and sour. Really not bad.

Warka 03.02.2015. Kolor bursztynowy, lekko zmetnione. Piana wysoka, szybko opada, zostawia gruba warstwe i nie oblepia szkla. W zapachu banan, gozdzik, przypalony karmel, lekka kawa i aromaty korzenne. W smaku polpelne, lekko slodkawe, smak to wlasciwie powtorka z aromatu, dosc mocno kwasne. Goryczka niska, aromat trawiasto-ziolowy, lekko sciagajaca. Wysycenie srednio-wysokie.

Another good one from Fortuna. Cloudy dark weizen, with great aroma of banana and citrus. Beautiful head what is quite common on weizens.

Thick, dense yellow-beige head, irregular, over veiled darker reddish-amber beer. Bit sweetish nose, grass, green leaves, greenmalt. Lightly roasted/toasted flavour, malty; faint, but recoganisable caramel. Carbonation gives a little acidic touch, for good balance. Finish shows a little oxidation. Quite (wheat?)slick, even a bit oily feel and velvety texture. Medium bodied, well-carbonated. Actually, the marks don’t do it right. It has little wheatcharacter, IMO, but I know many "Speciale Belges" , similar but for the wheat, that are not half as enjoyable. Thanks to Aga and dad!
