Commercial Description:
A double strength German Style Lager, Dopplebock is made with subtly flavored Hallertau hops. It is a sweet dark lager that has complex chocolate and caramel flavors. The alcohol content is 8.0%.

On tap at the PDX Green Dragon. Pours brown, dark with a red hue and soft khaki head. Toasted malt nose with a cherry and caramel character. Not as earthy as many German doppels, but a bit fruitier and more sessionable. Hops were a bit stronger leading to a bitter and floral finish. I think they changed the recipe since I didn’t pick up any of the soy sauce or acidity that others described.

Yikes, this is bone dry, with a huge amount of herbal vegetal flavors. Bittersweet soy sauce maltiness, too much roasted acidity, unbalanced.

Clear ruby black color with no head & a little lacing. The aroma is malty with a light fruity sweetness. Lots of sweetness & roast in the flavor, not much hops. Finishes roasty, full boded. Refreshing doppelbock.
