Sampled at the 2014 Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Festival in Mills River, NC. From a can, and called Miami Vice IPA, which I suppose was somewhat inevitable...Good mix of citrus and grassy hops, fresh bread, plus some piney notes. Pretty tasty.

Poured from a can at Beer Camp Across America southeast. Listed as Miami Vice IPA, more of an English style. Hops and malt well balanced, but neither really shining. Light and easy, not bad.

This was more of an English style IPA rather than an American one. The hop presence is there but subdued in both aroma and flavor. Not bad but not special in any way.

I poured a 12oz can into a tulip glass. There was no freshness date. This was sent to me in a trade with a friend from Florida (thanks, Matt!).

Appearance: Hazy shade of dark orange/light brown. Pours to a small, white, foamy head which does not lace at all and barely retains.

Smell: Strong vegetable aroma. Some orange juice concentrate.

Taste: I feel bad when friends send me beer to review and it turns out to not be good. That’s the case of Miami Brewing Vice IPA, which came from a friend that knows his IPAs (though he said he never actually had this one). It’s possible what I’m drinking is simply an old can since there’s no discernible freshness date. While this isn’t undrinkable, it just tastes off. There’s a distinct green bean taste which leads me to believe it’s DMS. The malt isn’t really distinctive, and the hops are just pure dry bitterness with just a hint of orange flavor. Some yellow lollipop taste as well, which is usually indicative of stale malt. It’s sweet and candy-like, but not enough to save the beer. There’s an astringent tang on the finish akin to a beer off a dirty tap line. I’m not appalled, just disappointed.

Drinkability: Did you ever notice beers that taste bad tend not to be very drinkable, either? Miami Brewing Vice IPA has a remarkably flat body, though the texture is rather smooth, which makes it easy to get down. Still, it leaves a dry, pasty aftertaste that is somewhat annoying. Mild warmth from the 7.1% ABV, but the palette does not make use of that weight at all.

Drank from a can with aromas of orange and hops. Flavors are orange, how’s and light malt. Mild bitterness as an aftertaste decent ipa for the abv.

@FBG Fest-12oz can-lt tan-dk gold. A-orange. T-orange hops that clash with the lt/med malt.

Draft. A very weird and fruity aroma and flavor. Very malty without much hop bitterness at all. I like the fruity character but the overall beer is just ok

This is not an ipa. Maybe a pale ale. Marginal at best very malty. Not impressed thin head thin in body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft @ the brewery. Pours lightly hazy copper color with off white head. Muted aromas of citrus and tropical fruits. Citrus, passion fruit and caramel flavors. Could be much better, but I think the base beer is probably not very good to begin with. Medium body with average carbonation.
