2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Derek881 (726) - Frederick, Maryland, USA - MAY 20, 2012
The beer was poured from the bottle into a 4oz sampling glass. It had a copper-brown color with a lighter amber hue, an average-sized foamy white head with short retention, good lacing, and small cling. The aroma featured a touch of caramel with malt and bits of pine and earthy hops. Its taste was a mix of caramel malt with some grainy bitterness. It had a thin, lighter body with a low thickness and mouthfeel, and was a bit watery with low carbonation. Thank you to Eric and Siobhan for the tasting.

Pours clear, dark coppery-brown with a short off-white head.
Scent is nuts, caramel.
Taste is slightly creamy, nutty, a little chocolate and caramel.
Light, watery....but not THAT bad for it’s domestic, corporate pedigree.

Had this on tap at a pizza place the other week, only non-pale lager they had. Dark with small light head. Light aroma of chocolate and caramel. Taste is pretty light also, some nuts, sweet with creamy finish. Not bad for a macrobrew I guess.

Draft @ Pinch. Pours a nut brown with minimal head. Aroma of roasty nuts and caramel. Taste is light sweet. Caramel and roasty nuts. Medium bodied with a thin texture. Lively carbonation and a decently long finish. Overall, not bad. It would be great for drinking outside on a hot day.

The only beer michelob made well outta their entire lineup. The best commercialized amberbock I’ve ever had.

Pretty good for a macro-brew. Pours dark brown with a meduim tan head. Has a malty taste with a creamy, nutty finish. Better served in a glass than bottle.

Original review: 6/23/10. 12oz bottle picked up from Total Wine. Poured into a mug.
Pours a dark brownish amber with a thin tan head on top. No retention; no lace. Smells of grains, some light caramel, and nuts. The mouth is thin. Carbonation level is low-moderate. Too slick for my liking. Par for the brewer. The flavor is decent, but it’s a little on the weaker side. Some faint caramel, toasted grains, and a sweet finish. All-in-all, not too bad considering the source. I’d have it again, but it’s nothing to scream for, for sure.

May 2010: Had this beer at the Excalibur (Las Vegas) at the pool bar and in the Sherwood Forest Bar on the casino floor.
The beer is a clear, almost bright reddish amber brown colour, the head was thin and white.
The nose is sweet, caramel and malt molasses mostly.
The taste was also fairly sweet, but not overly so. I got some toffee to add with the molasses and caramel from the smell.
Although I thought the body a little thin for a Bock I was pleasantly suprised how drinkable the beer was (hence having it more than once during our stay).

16 apr 2012, tap. Light but brown color, clear, no bubbles. Thin and slightly fizzy. Taste and aroma are a slightly sweet, slightly skunky lager with some toast or nut brown notes. Decent "darker" beer for a hot day.
