msante79 (775), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA May 23, 2008 First time I had this was on a catamaran in Maui during a snorkeling trip of all places. Pours amberish brown with thin white head. Flavor is roasted malt and caramel and that is about it. pretty good for an AB product. Collint (450), Sylva, North Carolina, USA May 20, 2008 Bottle. Pours an amber, far from what the label calls as dark. Aroma is malty and cheap. I like to drink this when throwin em back. For the price its better than Bud. dmtroyer (406), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 17, 2008 12oz. Pours a dark amber with an off-white head. Not much of a nose, mostly unpleasantness. Body makes me think corn syrup. I’ll pass. cdeaton (66), Madison, Indiana, USA May 15, 2008 Extremely clear and clean, amber color. Tinge of caramel, malts, a bit metallic. Well-carbonated. Clean finish. OK. Crafty07 (391), Florence, Kentucky, USA May 14, 2008 This "American Dark Lager" is not a bock and is only marginally malty compared to other offering by this unholy ’beer’ conglomerate, Anheuser-Busch.
This is a nostalgia beer for me as this USED to be the only drinkable beer you could find nearly anywhere in the US
Thank God for Sam Adams and Guinesss is all I can say.
Still, it’s not an entirely terrible beer. ThaBobfather (178), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 14, 2008 I was really impressed with this Amber Bock. TO think that Anheuser-Busch Michelob label can make a quality beer, but they did. It’s solid. nbutler11 (727), Phoenix, Arizona, USA May 13, 2008 This is the pinch-hitter beer for anyone in a bind at a chain restaurant -- never a first choice, but far from the bottom of the barrel. trannylegba (3), USA does not count May 10, 2008 Good mass produced dark lager. Has a slightly processed taste and finish. Goes down smooth though. Not terribly refreshing, though not really intended to be either. Has a good, unique taste.
