Rated 8/4/06: Another one of my go to beers if the bar has a poor selection. I had this at a pub tonight simply for this reason. I’ve enjoyed this brew throughout the years on many occasions and I still thinks it’s a solid example of a decent style. Aroma is faint but some creamy malt can be detected. Pours a nice dark amber with a decent tan head. Feels a bit creamy and smooth on the palate. Flavor is usually solid light yet decently malty. Nothing special here just a pretty decent make for this style of beer. Always been better on tap than out of the bottle, good bar beer.

Pint glass on tap in Eden Prairie. No aroma to speak of. Served ice cold, so the taste was muted. Mainly light sweet malt and very smooth, but not much else. Overall pretty bland, but drinkable in a pinch.

Dark Brown beer. Small amount of head. Aroma is weak; I can’t quite pin the smell but it’s not appealing. Taste is slightly metallic out of the bottle, a little bit of a malty taste I guess. I’m struggling to say something positive. Not a good beer that I would drink every night but it’s drinkable if it’s all that’s available. Nothing special here but better than a Michelob light.

Roasted malt aroma. Pours dark rust with minimal head. Tastes of licorice and hops, almost like cola. Leaves nothing on the palate.

As a beer, this isn’t that fantastic; but as a domestic, it’s great. Better quality than most base-level beers. This brew maintains all the standard tendencies of a dark lager while subtly maintaining flavors of an amber lager.

A dark lager that is served just about everywhere that is one of AH better investements. pours a dark copper-brown. aroma is not intense but neither is the malty flavor. Following suit with most other AH products there is no lingering taste. smooth and clean, goes great with a meal when out to dinner.

Not outstanding, but palatable. Actually for an American macrobrew it’s better than average. Appearance is typical but nice. Aroma is weak but beery, malty, assuring one that it is indeed beer. Flavor is malty with no bitterness. It goes down smoothly and pleasantly, making it a good choice for a party or with dinner.

Draft. Not bad. Appearance is dark reddish brown with a whitish head. Not much aroma-wise, a little malty sweetness. Taste is sweet up front with a slightly bitter finish. A decent beer that is a bit overpriced.
