VA Homebrewer (525), Portsmouth, Virginia, USA May 28, 2002 Slightly disappointing as I expected this to be at least a reasonable attempt at a good beer. Maybe a little more malt sweetness, but the rice is still very evident. Aside from the light malt increas and a darker color, this is no more impressive than regular ol’ Michelob.
Very slight aroma of malt. Flavor is of yeast and grain. Over carbonated. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Oct 16, 2009 12 oz. Pours a crystal clear dark brown with bright ruby highlights. Tall, frothy, smooth off-white head. Some stringy lacing. Some dark grainy rye-like sourness showing on the nose, a bit of toast and roast there as well. Not much, but a bit. Ultra-watery, light, flattish body. Very little carb showing or palpable. Mild dark grain flavors on the mid-palate, some slight sourness again. Neutral finish. Drinkable enough. fsbw21086 (69), New Jersey, USA Oct 14, 2009 Updated: Oct 18, 2009Dark and roasty... nice carmel flavor as well and not too heavy. Not a bad beer. thumbs up to michelob for making a halfway decent brew. caresville (106), Vernon, New Jersey, USA Oct 14, 2009 definitely roasty, smooth with hints of dried fruits and nuts. not too bad. tilldeath (72), Arvada, Colorado, USA Oct 7, 2009 A Rate from about 2 years ago by memory so take it with a grain of salt. From what I remember, as a Macro goes I really liked this for a cheap party beer. Not a bock but cheap and manageable with at least an attempt at some malt profile, however missguided. Bonster (81), Jersey Shore, New Jersey, USA Oct 5, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear amber. Decent off white head. Dough aroma with some malt. Pretty smooth and nutty, light bodied with a pasty aftertaste. Not terrible for Anheuser Busch I suppose. iabeerguy (158), Iowa, USA Oct 4, 2009 Dark color beer with creamy white head. Nice lacing around the glass. Smell of roasted malt. I wasn’t overally impressed with the flavor as I thought it was lacking compared to other bock beers.
