Calling this a bock is a bit of a stretch but this dark lager has a bit of a malty flavor. It certainly is a lot better than some of the other offerings that AB makes.

Tap - Decent amber color, minimal head. This beer has light carbonation, a moderate malty flavor, and a somewhat thin mouthfeel. It’s better than usual for an AB product while still falling short of a truly good beer. Good if you’re options are very limited...

Faint malt. Probably the best they make

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown body. The smell is nothing complex - pretty light. Aroma and taste sort of remind me of and alternate version of Honey Brown.

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2008 [draft - The Leisure Bar - West Deer, PA] Poured a clear brown color with not much head. Faint coffee and hop aroma. Very thin and watered down taste, mainly some malts and hops. Went down easy since it was mostly water.

This really wasn’t as bad as i was expecting. I’ll give this brew some credit for stepping outside the pale lager world and attempting a bock style. Looks just like a nice bock, dark copper with a decent white head. Aroma has a bit of the bock malty caramel smell, but also has a lot of the corn/swill smell to it. Taste was very thin and watery, with a slightly sweet caramel start to the taste that quickly fades into that cheap shitty swill bitter tasting ending. Still a pretty decent brew for a macro.

This rice-bock is not a real bock, though it has hints of bock flavor. Everyone criticizing it is comparing it to DOPPELBOCKS, which are not the same as BOCKS. Bocks, like Shiner and Saxer are damn hard to find and taste a bit maltier than this weak offering from Michelob. Save yourself a beer bummer and get something else.

It is budweiser with dark coloring added, cheap macro swill for an inflated price.

Poured a nice dark amber color, with a relatively small white head that quickly disappears--I'm not a fan of this, but the color is good. Theres not a whole heck of a lot of an aroma--pretty mild. The flavor is mild and smooth with a somewhat mild nutty taste. The finish is smooth, but relatively tasteless. The flavor impressed me somewhat coming from such a huge brewery. The palate is nothing special--not a ton of body, but not hugely watery. I think it is a decent beer seeing it's an A-Busch beer and a beer that's cheap. I think you get decent bang for your buck, and I would probably take it over other similarly priced macrobrews.

Pours a rich amber body with mild carbonation and no head. Low roasted malt aroma and light hopppiness with a pinch of skunkiness characterize the aroma--the flavor is an easy balance of malt and hops as well. A fair tasting bock that is easy on the palate and should have mass consumer appeal.
