This is something that is avilable in most bars that I actually like. I picked this up on a fluke once at a conveience store, and I really enjoyed it. Rich and slightly dark, full bodied and very drinkable. Just do not over do it.

UPDATED: MAR 16, 2007 Pours a light brown color and has more flavor than the usual macro. First couple of sips when cold are chocolate and nutty, yet once it warms up all the typical flaws of a cheap swill AB product start to come through: astringency, acidity, adjuncts, and all sorts of aftertastes. Drinkable, but not something to seek or quaf. Mouthfeel is moderate, slightly lighter than moderate.

Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry, GregClow, and Blankboy, courtesy of Harry. Light brown small beige head. Thin malt like aroma - kind of funky and stale. Mild sweet taste - very thin, sweetness is the only characteristic here, but it is not near as bad as I was expecting. It is actually ok and not that different from a recent bad pint of Creemore Urbock which I just had.

Bottle from Liquor Saver Market, Beverley Boulevard (off Vermont Ave) Los Angeles. Chestnut brown, with no head. Some chocolate icing aroma. Much lighter than expected. Some cola style malty taste, especially in the finish, but overridingly watery flavour + plenty of fizz! Apparently no strength or flavour. This ain’t no Bock.

Admittedly, I was always fond of a good Michelob in my macro-swilling days. Of all the macrobrews, Michelob was inconsistent, sometimes surprisingly good (relative to my usual fare), and sometimes bland. I have not partaken of their new "specialty line," at least in some time, so I took a chance by purchasing a cheap pint of Amber Bock. I am pleasantly surprised, especially considering this is Anheuser-Busch! Very little in the way of aroma permeates the air above this amber-hued brew, but there are a few sweet traces to be had. Surprisingly, the flavor begins with sweet, bockian malts. Alas, like cotton candy on the tongue, this ephemeral hint at a bock disappears, leaving carbonated water in stow. For an Anheuser-Busch product, this was still a welcome reprieve from mediocrity.

Sucks less than most AB products. Still I give AB credit for this, it does have qualities that could make someone wonder if all those other ’strange beers’ they see in the stores are really there for a reason. There are detectable amounts of taste and body in this.

Draught: Poured a brown with light color head. The aroma is a roasted malt/nuts. The flavor was similar and fairly drinkable.

UPDATED: AUG 13, 2010 Draft at a Renegades hockey game, thanks to maniac for the tickets. Amber. Faintly sweet malt aroma. Flavor is pretty much lightly sweet malt with some odd bitter hop on the finish to try to balance things out. Yucky. Should note that bocks just aren’t my thing. RERATE: August 2010 - this time on draft at a Flying Squirrels game. Notes are the same, although I would say that the hops were working a bit better with the bitterness, and it wasn’t quite as sweet as I recalled. Slightly better overall.

UPDATED: OCT 18, 2008 Eh, just another malty lager, though I would definitely take it over the other swill from MBC. Kinda sweet, only drank it cuz it was free. Basically a brown lager...Unexciting

This beer has a textbook brown color. A sweet aroma, with some dust. Flavor is light, but a little bit of caramel. Finishes smooth. Let’s just say that this beer doesn’t disgust me and that if it was Ice Cold and it was hot, this would be pretty refreshing. Good in 34oz Mugs for $2.75.
