2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours a dirty-looking copper-tinged brown, with a reasonable off-white head. Faint caramel malty aroma, though it’s mostly covered by the characteristic "american lite lager" stench. Flavor is nice, a sweet malty taste with a pleasant roasted note and noticeable hops in the finish, but it’s simply too weak for my tastes. Mouthfeel is quite thin and watery as well. Really not bad for an Anheuser-Busch product, but it would be a lot better if it was thicker and carried a more pronounced flavor.

Bottle. Amber color with foamy off-white head that dissipated quickly, very little toast aroma, quite flat taste, low carbonation, abrupt finish. Better than a generic lager, but not much better.

Draft at my hotel’s complimentary dinner in Brentwood (suburban Nashville) Tennessee on April 1, 2013. Large foamy head that quickly headed south leaving little lacing, aroma of malt and sweet grains, some sweet malty taste but mostly watery with an astringent finish. This beer is neither a bock nor much of anything else.

I love dark brown lagers and ales. Michelob Amberbock is a nice example. Beginning with its aroma which is roasted, like fruits also. It has a nice full body, with a healthy reddish brown color, foamy and fuzzy. And, an excellent taste, deep, roasted, and with fruit traces.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Weak aroma; some roast and booze. Flavor is malty with boozy finish. Feels more than 5.2 abv. Not great, but beats the macro pale lagers when choices are limited at restaurants.

tastes like a watery lager with some color. can tell its a bad example of the bock in the 1st few seconds as what little bubbly head disappears quickly

Not terrible.... Considering it was Michelob. Malty and dark fruit aromas. Watery flavors. However I was expecting worse.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
This was all my dad drank a few years back. Figured it’s time to give it a try. Pours a deep, clear ruby with about a finger of fizzy white head that dies down to a thin ring and leaves no lacing. Aroma is caramel malts. Taste is sweet malts and water with no real finish. Overall, this surprised me by being okay. Not good or a bock by any stretch of the imagination, but it drinks well enough.

boy...really not sure what to make of this. I figured Amber Bock meant some kind of dark, strong beer...Guiness-like. This one was a sheep in wolf’s clothing or at least in name. Mediocre at best.

While in Chicago I was fooled by the new design on ths label, it now says Michelob Amberbock ’Dark Lager’. It pours foamy head, not very dark, no detectable aroma. A mild and unambitious beer, not too anything except boring. I think this is what bock means in greek, boring.
I’d swear this is Ziegenbock, bottled also by AB (Inbev) in Texas. We like exclusive names in Texas.
