Lots of lemon and banana in the nose with lesser notes of clove, bubble gum and white bread. Full-bodied and lightly creamy with tickling carbonation. Lemon-like acidity is the first thing that greets my tongue; then I get banana, light clove and low bitterness as the gentle acidity lingers. Finishes crisp and mildly tart. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 21, 2007 This pours a hazy straw body with a respectable enough fizzy white head. There’s too much of a wheat flake factor in the aroma that almost pushes the banana scents aside. Kind of harsh mouthfeel for a hefeweizen, although not for a typical American wheat. The flavor is balanced between the wheat flakes and bananas, also having a suggestion of clove and a lemony tartness. Okay for A-B.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 25, 2009 Pours hazy yellow with a four finger foamy off-white head. Aroma is pretty much banana. Not quite medium body with decent carbonation. Flavor is banana, wheat, and a touch of clove. Rather crisp. Not the best, but far from the worst. heemer77 (4313), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 21, 2006 Updated: Sep 24, 2009Tried again in 2009 as part of a sampler. Pretty much the same result as before, a little spicy and light to drink. No major flaws, but incredibly boring as much as anything. A bottle from the sampler collection, 2006. Where are the glasses? The body was lightly hazy dark gold with a quickly dissapating white head. The aroma is light overripe banana with some dishrag. The taste has a lot of clove along with some musty mushrooms. You get a shot of overripe banana in the finish. Overcarbonated and a little too spicy. BBB63 (4283), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 14, 2006 Bottle and served in a smaller Ayinger glass: Pours a hazy golden hue topped by a lasting fluffy head and good lace. The aroma is very good with notes of banana and clove yeast esters, notes of wheat bread, and some floral hops. The taste is mild compared to the nose with a subdued fruit and spice component over the base of wheat and pale malts. The mouth feel is smooth and watery, needs some body. Overall a fine effort from the Macro giant, easily the best beer I have had from A-B. This bier is an actual hefe and not an American wheat, just don’t expect a world-class weizen.
