Dunkel weisse dark wheat ale, all malt and unfiltered. A dark wheat ale featuring our own unique yeast and malted wheat. A special Bavarian yeast strain combined with select wheat malt deliviers unmistakeable clove and banana tones. The surprisingly light finish is a character of dark weissbeir, a style with roots back to the 1520s. A dunkel which is perfect for any season! To serve this brew perfectly, pour it down the side of the glass untill about a half inch is left. Gently swirl the bottle mixing what’s left. Pour the rest of the brew into the glass to produce a nice thick collar of foam and enjoy!

This is a really surprisingly impressive copy of the German dark wheat ale style, reminiscent of a darker Tucher or Paulaner. Really top-notch American beer, which I surmise people are afraid to rate better because it’s Michelob. Yum!

Well rampmaster beat me to it, this is THE best Michelob product out there. I have tried all of the current offerings thanks to the Myrtle beach beerfest and the Craft a Case promo they had in April and can tell you that this is a great beer. Look just below for a breakdown, and really note the complexity of this non craft beer. If the big companies can put brews like this out for the non-beer-crazed public then this world might be OK after all. Don’t be a snob and just try it, Dunkel Weisse will not disappoint. RAR

Dunkelweizen is my favorite style, and I really like this one! Pours out a nice hazy reddish light brown with a good creamy tan head. Aroma is very good. Flavor is right up there with the better wheat beers I have had. Roasty malts, slight coffee. Good banana and clove. Not overly thin or too sweet. Finishes clean. I should have gotten the entire six pack instead of a single bottle.

Bottle. Uh-oh. A 4+ rating for an A-B beer. How dare I support a large corporation! Aroma of banana, clove, nutty, roasted malt, increasing smoke/smoked nuts/smoked wood. Flavor sweet with wheat malt, sweet-tart with the banana, lightly spicy, gritty and roasty with earth and nuts. Perfect balance of the banana and wheat notes with the rich, roasted malt notes. This is more than ’’better than expected from A-B,’’ this is a great beer.

Michelob Dunkel Weisse has a medium, creamy, beige head and a clear, copper color with lots of bubbles streaming up and nice lacing. The swirl & pour did not cloud it up, surprisingly. The aroma is strong on banana and light on wheat and clove. Taste is banana, some wheat, and a wonderful hop spice. Hops show up as well, and this really gives it a tasty balance. Lots of ticklish carbonation with this, and there’s also a smokey aspect. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Michelob Dunkel Weiss finishes clean, refreshing, and super-drinkable. Too bad it’s gone, because it’s really outstanding. RJT

Very inviting, beginning from the nose to the tounge. Medium darkness in color. The destinct clove and banana tones are very evident throughout. A truely delicious dunkel weiss from a world-class brewery.

10/14/08 From the bottle. aroma is spicy clove sulfur citrus, pleasing. Yeast is forward, as it should be, with a nice roast background. Appearance is hazy brown with a medium white head. Flavor is citrusy, caramel sweet with a solid yeasty roundness and moderate bittering with faint earthiness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a spritzy carb feel. Overall, very cool and complex with lovely flavor.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a weizen glass. Appearance: The body has a very dark and hazy appearance with a brownish iced tea like color. Along the sides of the glass there are streams of tiny bubbles that race up to the head. The head is light tan in color and little small for the style but it hangs on to the last sip. It makes some slice lace that slides down the glass. Smell: It has a big fruity nose with notes of banana, clove, light wheat and candy. Taste/Mouth feel: The base has a nice lightly roasted wheat malt flavor that gives way to big fruity yeast full of rip banana with a touch of clove. Hops are very mild and subdued. It finishes with a dryer wheat twang and more yeast. It has a nice wet refreshing texture with soft yet somewhat fizzy carbonation and a medium body. Notes: This is defiantly one of the best AB products.

good variation on the style for Michelob. Banana and clove is strong but still a good mouthfeel.

sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy chestnut color with a medium sized dark tan head. The aroma was tangy, tart and citrusy with a light caramel malty undertone. The flavor was tangy and a bit sour with noted citrus, banana and clove. The finish was long tangy and bitter. Surprisingly good.
