Palidor19 (1319), Brandon, Florida, USA Dec 2, 2006 I wasn’t expecting to be blown away by a porter from A-B. The malts and hops are weak in initial flavor although there is the taste of caramel and very little cocoa. its a bit on the tangy side too.
dm9831 (620), Monee, Illinois, USA Oct 11, 2008 dark brown color, medium tan head, some nice lacing. slight indications of smokey malt in the nose. mild coffee and chocolate in the flavor. the roasted coffe finish sticks around for a long time. watery body. perhaps the best of the michelob craft beers that i have tried in that it is inoffensive. superdude1979 (38), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Oct 11, 2008 I am a porter fan so my bias will be to rate these types of beer higher. I thought this was a great effort by AB, though the inital taste of the porter wears off fast, and there is not much (if any) distinguishment between the chocolate or coffee in the beer. Actually the coffee flavour wins out and there is no smoothing by the chocolate as in other porters I have had. A good pickup at the right price though. mcjay (84), Neenah, Wisconsin, USA Oct 7, 2008 Black with an amber hue and a very thin tan head. Slightly sweet, roasted aroma and a coffee malt taste with a hint of chocolate. Goes down smooth but that’s partially because it’s a little watered down. Not bad for Michelob. Cybercat (423), Georgia, USA Oct 5, 2008 Aroma is smoky and "stouty," typical for a porter but still inviting - I am partial to porters and stouts. Color is dark blackish-brown and opaque. Flavor has hints of coffee and smoke, but overall is not remarkable, if still tasty. Texture is fairly smooth, but lacks the "thickness" that I like in this style. MexiFinn (16), Nevada, USA Oct 5, 2008 12 oz. bottle, pours dk. brown, almost black, soft syrupy/sweet taste, not a lot of bite, then a bit of a metallic aftertaste... an ok light porter. Cheers!
