3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
355 mL bottle. Translucent amber-brown with a very small beige head. Smells kinda malty sweet, with some citrus and a touch of spice. Not great, really. There is a candy-sweetness up front in the flavour as well. The finish is better, but this one is too sweet.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz bottle. Aroma of caramel, rye, citrus. Pours brownish amber with a rocky head. Nice lacing. Tastes of rye bread, caramel; bitter. Light-bodied, lightly carbonated. Bitter finish. Not terrible, but not very well done.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle and served in pint glass: Coppery hue with a quick fading head and almost no lace. The aroma has notes of malted rye, caramel, pumpernickel bread, slight herbal and grassy hops, and some iodine smoky esters. There is also a hint of metallic vapours. The taste does indeed display an earthy and chewy rye character along with sweet crystal malts. A hint of noble bitterness is found as well. The problem is that nothing pops or stands out, honestly it is a bit muddled and there is also a short fading metallic and corny finish which detracts. The mouth feel is soft and chalky, medium-bodied. Well, I do like that the rye is in play here and types of hops used seem to work well... but there are not enough of them for this to be an IPA plus the appearance and finish needs work. An introductory rye beer for the masses.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from the Fall 2009 MIchelob sampler pack. A deep copper colored body with a few lazy bubbles headed slowly up the glass to a fluffy medium khaki head. A nose of bread dough is balanced with some spicy rye and a little hint of oranges. There not much else to smell, but at least the rye is present. The initial drinks are fairly spicy with the rye, but it fades and then the light hopping comes out. There is a hint of grapefruit, but it hides in the background and is a little more perceptible in the finish. There is a persistent whole wheat bread dough and yeast flavor that is not pleasing. Another craft style attempt that is almost good but leaves the drinker wanting more from the beer.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Color is a fairly average amber with a decent white head. Aroma is not strong but fairly hoppy and has a firm malt/rye component. Flavor is only somewhat hoppy, mainly malty and rye-ish, not really like an IPA at all, and only slightly bitter. Texture is fairly tingly. OK, but not worth seeking out.

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Not really a pale ale, but not a bad drink. As far as the macros trying to make inroads into the mircobrewery niche, this does well enough.
Copper/Ruby pour, moderate foam. Much thinner than an IPA ought to be, and not quite as hoppy as it should be either. That aside, there is more crisp bitterness than one might expect from a major label, and it is well balanced by enough (but not too much malt).

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
The aroma is light sweet caramel and moderately hoppy with a bit of rye in there I think. The appearance is amber with a nice foamy three finger head. The flavor is like the aroma with a bitter soapy finish. The palate is thin but moderately carbonated. Overall a well made beer and better than I expected but has a bit to much in the way of astringency.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz bottle: Aroma is a bit hoppy with some detectable rye note within some light caramel notes as well. Appearance is a reddish amber with a off white head thata lingers. Taste got nice hop and rye upfront with some malt backing. A slightly below average IPA in my honest opinion. Decent but not that great at all. Cheers!

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Serving: 12 oz. bottle.
Appearance: Clear, amber color with a small, foamy, white head.
Aroma: A bit of spicy hops, some light fruit notes, and a bit of malt.
Flavor: The spicy side comes out a bit more and there is a decent hop bite. Donít get me wrong, this ainít no Two Hearted, but it could be worse. A little bit of citric hops and some maltiness.
Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium body and a medium-long, bitter finish.
Overall: It is what it is. This could be far, far worse. Take it or leave it.
