3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Deep amber body with a soapy white head that leaves little lacing. Nice sweet aroma of malt and sugared grapefruit. Overall smooth and easy to drink, but the palate is a bit light. The flavor starts sweet with the malt characteristics. The brew quickly turns towards the IPA it claims to be with pine and grapefruit notes and a nice punch of rye spice. Nice effort by AB.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The body has a bright or new coopery color with good clarity. Its head is bright white and of an average two finger size. The head has good retention and make for some cool sticky lace rings on the glass. Its aroma is very bready and spicy with a light citrus hop aroma. There is a good medium body on which there are notes of bready and light caramel maltiness. The rye does add its own touch of spice as well. This is all backed up and balanced by a modest addition of citrus hops and bitterness. Its carbonation is active and gives the texture a nice drinkable and cleansing feel.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
355 mL bottle. Translucent amber-brown with a very small beige head. Smells kinda malty sweet, with some citrus and a touch of spice. Not great, really. There is a candy-sweetness up front in the flavour as well. The finish is better, but this one is too sweet.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle. Pours amber with a small beige head. Aroma of pale malts and a hint of hops with a funky undertone. Little flavor, just a hint of caramel and some light hops. The rye is almost undetectable. Typical metallic A-B finish.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Not among the best rye ales, mainly due to the faintness of the rye and the overall watery flavor to this, although it wasn’t horrible.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. There appears to be no freshness date only an odd bottle number. (09217 VC74)
Appearance: The body has a bright or new coopery color with good clarity. Its head is bright white and of an average two finger size. The head has good retention and make for some cool sticky lace rings on the glass.
Smell: Its aroma is very bready and spicy (rye like) with a light citrus hop aroma.
Taste/Palate: There is a good medium body on which there are notes of bready and light caramel maltiness. The rye does add its own touch of spice as well. This is all backed up and balanced by a modest addition of citrus hops and bitterness. Its carbonation is active and gives the texture a nice drinkable and cleansing feel.
Notes: There’s not much I can say, other than it’s a good solid and quaffable beer from Anheuser Busch.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Ruby with off white head. Aroma is barely hoppy with a cheesy smell. Thin bodied. Very modest hop profile. Cheesiness is still evident in flavor. Some lingering bad flavor. No discernible rye...or any malt for that matter.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown hue with an initially foamy yellow head. No strong carbonation is visible in this but a good looking amber beer. A sweet malted and caramel aroma. Its a honey like smell all around. While the arom is all malt and candy, the flavor has an initial jolt of burly bittering hops that gradually gives way to a dense malt taste. The palate is a perfect thick complement for this bold tasting beer. A well put togheter and tasty flavor from the boys at anheiser busch.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle, from a mixed 12pk of Michelob. $12.99. (The only beer out of the 4, I’ve yet to rate.) Pours a orange amber hue , with a tall, creamy desert dust colored head. Aroma of fresh rye bread. There is a definite spice and heavy dose of bread. Quite impressive nose. A touch of pine needles as well. Flavor is mild, again lots of bread. Sweet caramels, earthy hops. Very well balanced. Smooth light medium body. Finishes with the slightest hop character and a dominate rye peppery spice character. I don’t feel this is an IPA, as suggested. Definitely in the Specialty Grain category!
