Appearanc: Pours a light auburn brown with hints of amber in the color. It has a small bleach white head made up of big fizzy carbonation bubbles. It is a nicer looking beer than most of the "Light Lagers" that I’ve had. Smell: The smell is very hard to find. I got more of the olfactory sense of the beer in the aftertaste then in the aroma upfront. For the most part though it is about what you’d expect from a watered down Macro. Taste: Truth is this beer is not as bad as I expected. I was ready to have a beer that would balance out my Average Rating by pulling it down significantly. I was surprised. This beer is not that bad. Mind you, it is not THAT good either. It is sweet but the sweetness is not the malty sweetness of an Amber Lager IMO it tastes more artificial. I am not sure why this is called amber other than some food coloring it is a macro light. If you like Orange juice and are served Orange drink you’d probably have the same reaction I get from this beer. Mouthfeel: The mouthfeel is about the same as every other thin light somewhat water light beer. It is crisp but the disturbing aftertaste prevents it from truly being refreshing. Drinkability: If what you want is another light beer that is a slightly different color then here you go. I believe it is more of a gimmick to call this beer an amber but it has the same drinkability as you’d expect from ANY other A-B light beer. Hope this is helpful. Cheers!

Michelob Ultra Amber 12 oz bottle Recent bottling, wolfed down 07/06 Medium pour in a mug Poured amber with a rapidly faind 1/2 inch head. Smelt of a trace of fruity malt Taste was light and shortlived upfront sweet berrymaltiness drying off quickly in an ending with an effervesscent metallic taste. Mouthfeel was light and bubbly. Overall, it may wake up Michelob Ultra drinkers taste buds, but not many others’.

Wow... Unbelievable! As an "on again"- "off again" Atkins enthusiast... I was one of the first people to rush out to the store to try the original Mich Ultra a few years back! Abstinence from "real" beer always made me think that Ultra was an "acceptable" alternative to drinking "real" beer. I was excited when I saw the "Amber" version today - thinking that Anheuser-Busch must have added some extra "umph" to their popular low carb beer. Boy, was I ever disappointed!! The ONLY positive I can say is the appearance. It looks absolutley beautiful - golden clear - bubbly - a huge white head and even decent lacing! The aroma was 100% undetectable. Nada. Zippo. Flavor and palate was water (H2O)... PERIOD. I believe that if I were to place my hand on the Bible, I would have to admit that a tiny tear welled up in my left eye from being beyond disappointed. Oh the humanity!

I found this to be fairly despicable. At least the regular Ultra had very little to no taste. This thin and overcarbonated brew(?) had a weird artificial taste, kind of like plastic. It looks better than regular Ultra though. I couldn’t hardly finish this one.

I had this as a half and half with a quality British lager, to get flavor and less calories, so the mix may have upgraded the Ultra Amber too much, but as a mix, not that bad for a lower carb beer.

I actually found this drinkable, which surprised me because I hate the Ultra and don’t particularly care for the Amber. I’m not going to bother going into detail on a rather watery and only moderately tasty beer, but for some reason the blend was O.K. (Possibly because it was all that was offered, but I won’t consider that.) Don’t get me wrong - it’s not good & I certainly wouldn’t buy it by choice, but it may be a lesser of many evils if you find yourself at the wrong place.

Light amber topped by a tall white head. Aroma was thin malts and a mild breadiness. Very light bodied with not much carbonation. Typical light American lager with a little caramel malt thrown in. Thin and weak, but better than the regular Ultra.

Straight garbage. Pours a nice enough looking amber with a soapy head. Aroma is of crappy stale malt and steel shavings. Flavor is rough, you get a kick of sweet sugary cheap malt extract, then metallic carbonated goodness, yum.
