0.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
This is one of the worst beers I’ve ever had. Bar none!!! There is nothing "amber" about this beer. Horse piss.

2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Amber, no, more like a deep gold. Hard to detect any aroma...maybe a little corn and grassy hops. Taste has a small amout of caramel malt, otherwise corn, grassy hops, and white bread. Very thin and highly carbonated. Very drinkable, but you don’t drink this for taste, you drink it to get drunk. That said, it’s a step up from the regular Mich Ultra and probably a bit better than the light macros. It is what it is.

1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Clear amber stirs amidst a boisterous display of overzealous carbonation. A meager head fades into a paper-thin ringlet which doesn’t instill tasting confidence. A few swirls produce absolutely nothing in the realm of lace or a resurgence of foam. Surprisingly, there is a semi-decent representation of bread in his nose along with faint red apples and toffee crunchies which fade into watery lemon and apple skins. Believe it or not folks, we actually have some semblance of a nose to dissect. My first quaff along with all others to follow is watery and bright with his overactive carbonation tingling atop my tongue. Watery apple juice ends in a zap of lemon and then poof, nothing. Wet breads and wet dough lurks in the background, and as I quaff further I find his bright carbonation to be painfully so. No finish and easily forgettable, I thankfully do just that.
There shouldn’t be a Michelob Ultra in the first place much alone a Michelob Ultra Amber. If you’re worried about calories…don’t. Enjoy what you drink. Appreciate the nuances of aroma, flavor, and finish. Savor the moment and the moment will savor you. Richness is found in valuing flavor, not abusing and bastardizing it.

1.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
12oz bottle courtesy of Headbanger poured into a shaker at 47°. Color is a nice golden with good carbonation and a small fizzy head that tightens up as it settles. Aroma is a mild grain scent with a hint of hop spice. Body is light with a very smooth mouth feel. Flavor is light almost bland with just a hint of malt. After taste is flat and too clean. Overall its drinkable for a low carb and low cal brew but it’s so bland I think water may have more to it.

UPDATED: SEP 5, 2010 Just a masking of flavorless bodyless Michelob Ultra by adding color and maybe a touch of flavoring. Why bother?
