MrBunn (1523), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 22, 2007 Bottle. So this looks somewhat like a macro offering... really pale gold/straw color. Really fizzy head. Nose is fruity... that’s it. Mosly raspberry, but that may be my limited experience with pomegranates coming back to bite me. If you asked me, it smells like a raspberry flavored Clearly Canadian or New York Seltzer. Flavor is horrendous. Soapy, fruity and WEAK. I bet this is a real hit in the right market... I mean, if I didn’t like beer, this would be great. Down the drain it goes! krysztofar (344), belleville, Illinois, USA Oct 14, 2007 12oz bottle. the worst in this trilogy of horror. the first two were bad, no doubt, however this was even worse. mostly because you could tell it was beer. the other two taste like smirnoff ice or something like it. this was mich ultra with raspberry syrup. just absolutely horrible. mmmbeer (737), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 12, 2007 12 oz bottle- poured a transparent yellow, fizzy head that disappeared quickly, heavy carbonation. Mild aroma of sugar and fruit. Hits the mouth with heavy carbonation, no body, no finish, tastes like sparkling wine, kind of a dry finish. Too bad I’m supposed to be drinking BEER!!! What am I going to do with the other 5 now! BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA Oct 6, 2007 [bottle] Sweet, artifical fruit aroma. Pungent chemicals. Pours an ultra-clear yellow color, with a decent sticky white head. Thin, watery flavors, with a hint of beer-like character. Sweet, cloying fruit flavors dominate, making this more of a beery fruit soda. dp (512), uniontown, Ohio, USA Sep 24, 2007 more cherry aroma than raspberry, soda pop like, not much flavor after initial taste, didn’t expect much, wasn’t disappointed pkbites (309), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Sep 22, 2007 Smells just like a cherry soda. Sticky white head lasted for a while then died. This is nowhere near as sweet as i thought it would be. Very dry finish. Watered down flavor. Does not taste like it smells. I thought this would be more like a dessert beer: sickening sweet but good for one. I was wrong. Pass!!! Ughsmash (3983), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Sep 10, 2007 Bottled as "Michelob Ultra Pomegranate Raspberry", Born on 5/26/07. Poured clear bright golden with very active carbonation and a dusting of white head. The aroma was powerfully sweet with raspberries leading the way.. it was a Pixie Stix crossed with that powdered candy that you dip the maple-flavored sugar stick into after you lick it sweetness.. talk about way over the top. The flavor had extra-sweet raspberry syrup over pale malts, with some tart pomegranate notes on the back-side of the tongue.. the sweetness subsided a bit on the dry, quick finish to portry some dry, grainy pale malts. Light-bodied on the palate with fizzy, almost oppressive carbonation.. again, a dry, quick finish. This sure was memorable, but not for any techical merits. Heathen (723), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Sep 3, 2007 THOUGHTS: Tastes like Clearly Canadian. Best of the three flavored Ultra, but still not good. I can’t really see anyone liking these beers much. Flavor is nice, but it is too weak and disappears too quickly.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, medium yellow with a small to average, white head. The aroma was fruity. Mostly rapberry and I guess pomegranate. The flavor was lightly sweet and acidic moving toward lightly sweet and sour with a short to average finishduration. The dominant flavors were fruity, I think there was more raspberry than pomegranate. The light body was dry but sticky on the lips and had very fizzy carbonation and a moderagely astringent finish.
