Bottled. Very pale yellow, no head. Artificial marachino aroma followed up by plastic and saccharine. Then glue and DrPepper takes over for a while before it mercifully fades out in a swamp of raspberry syrup. God help me.

Name: Michelob Ultra Pomegranate Raspberry
Date: 06/06/2008
Mode: Bottle
Source: Total Wine, GA

Appearance: clear yellow, fine white head, drippy bits of lace,
Aroma: big sweet fruity aroma with a nice raspberry tartness, candy sweetness like a fruit rollup,
Flavor: sweet fruit flavor, just a touch of raspberry tartness balances the sweetness, very little hops or bitterness,
Overall: basically a fruit soda, not bad as a soda, not much for a beer,

Bottle… Clear, straw-colored lager with a small, fizzy, white head. Decent retention. Fruity, raspberry nose. Sweet, thin, raspberry flavor. Light-bodied with fizzy carbonation. Crisp, gently sweet, fruity finish.

Having already had one of these puppies, I didn’t want to waste a real beer glass on this one, so I carefully poured it into my Lois Lane glass from the Superman: The Movie promo set from Pepsi/Taco Bell. It had the same urine yellow body with a short-lived head. I couldn’t detect any pomegranate in the aroma or flavor, just some candy raspberry stuff. Gassy and unpleasant.

Light straw color with a taller spritzy head that dissipates somewhat slowly, but does completely disappear. This time we have raspberry kool-aid aromas. I don’t think I catch pomegranate either. Again a touch of pale malt with a initially sweet raspberry flavored, followed by a dry pomegranate taste. If you like flavored carbonated water this is for you. Beer it ain’t.

Bottle from Kroger. Poured clear golden color with a large fizzy white head that diminished quickly with minimal lacing. Moderate sweet fruity aroma. Light to medium body with lively carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with light sweet finish of short duration. This beer did meet my expectations after the other version.

This one was slightly better than the orange, with some raspberry aroma and flavor notes that I found somewhat thirst slaking. Weak palate.

Bottle. Head is initially small, fizzy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is light to medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain), with notes of cherry/raspberry syrup. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Light to medium body, watery/syrupy texture, fizzy carbonation. The most difficult of the three flavored Ultras to drink...this one’s more concentrated/syrupy in the nose, almost like cherry cough syrup. More syrupy sweet in the mouth too. A cloying sugary mess.
