Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Jun 30, 2009 When I picked up the three Mich alcopops at Pat’s Liquors in Porter, IN, the woman behind the counter said I might be surprized and like them. Well, no surprizes here. There were all pretty sad excuses for a beer of ANY style. This one had the same urine yellow body and short-lived fizzy head as the other two, It smelled kind of like St. Joseph’s Baby Aspirin but with a metallic touch. The flavor, or at least what could be found through the carbonation, was of cheap orange candy. Gassy and a definite non-repeater. JPDIPSO (4863), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA May 24, 2007 Light straw color with a taller spritzy head that dissipates somewhat slowly, but does completely disappear. Smells like tang. with a touch of lemon zest. Ok, the scent isn’t bad for a soda. Fizzy, watery feel. Hint of pale malt mixed in orange flavored carbonated water. That’s all folks. Why? Well it tastes better than most malt-pops, but that’s because it tastes like a soda, not beer. Tmoney99 (4652), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 26, 2007 Bottle from Kroger. Poured clear yellow color with a large fizzy white head that diminished slowly with minimal lacing. Good orange aroma. Light to medium body with lively carbonation. Medium sweet orange flavor with light sweet finish of short duration. This beer did not meet my expectations. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 27, 2007 Bottle from Capone’s. Pale gold pour with minimal head. The aroma was half-decent, with a realistic orangy note and slight hopcitrus. Weak palate, with mild hopcitrus and orange in the flavor. Ernest (4481), Boulder, Colorado, USA Feb 16, 2008 Bottle.
Head is initially small, fizzy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is light to medium yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (grain), with notes of orange/tangerine soda, citrus rind.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Light to medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation.
Same as the other flavored Michelob Ultras, just a different flavor...little more than soda pop. Inoffensive but silly. heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA May 7, 2007 This pours with a pale yellow body and plenty of fizz. The smell reminds me of Tang, but not poontang . It could also be orange flavored bubblegum. I throw out those terms as I cannot smell anything else. The taste is bland with a hint of very weak mixed orange drink and a little bit of apple core. It also tastes like a flat Diet Sprite. The finish has a hint of stale corn flakes. The base Michelob Ultra is so thin and bland that the fruit infusion absolutely dominates the beer. This is better than most sickeningly sweet alcopops. However, it gets pretty bad as you get to the bottom of the beer. BBB63 (4198), La Porte, Indiana, USA May 12, 2007 After my tasting of the Michelob Ultra Lime Cactus, I was debating if I should save myself the time and just open the bottle and pour it down the drain without a moment of hesitation but alas I figured why not be a ratings whore today and abuse my palate some more!
I opened the bottle (bought as a single) and poured it into my pint glass: Grassy light golden hue with a quickly disappearing fizzy head and zero lace. The aroma smells just like a orange Slice soda which in itself is not so bad but alas this is suppose to be a beer right? I guess if really take a deep inhale I can pick out some soapy pale malt but zero hints of any grapefruit vapours. Weeeeee....
The taste is gosh darn AWFUL, think of an OLD CAN of "insert your favorite orange soda here" with a hint of old pale grains. There is little else I can say but to AVOID this crap at all cost. Clearly aimed at the flavored wine cooler crowd. This is even worse than the Lime "beer" was...arggh!
