I had one of these tonight. It was very cold. Had almost no head, definitely no flavor. Very weak all around. But quite refreshing - in a sparkling water kind of way. If you are carb-conscious, I could see this being your beer. If you lust after something a bit tastier, you should avoid Michelob Ultra.

Bottle. Pale yellow colour with a medium mostly diminishing white head. Very weak aroma and taste of nothing. Boring, standard american pale lager?

In the bottle. Do they even keg this? I mean, don’t the drones who drink this believe that keg beer is nasty? I had my first and last taste of Michelob Ultra at DJ and Michaela’s wedding reception tonight. Free beer. I thought- "what the hell? When am I ever going to try this again?" My mistake was asking for a glass to pour it into. The color of the clear glass was nicer than the color of the beer. This "lager" actually had a negative head. That’s right, the beer got smaller as you poured it. The taste was a genuine vacuum. I had more flavor in my mouth from my natural kallikriene than evidenced by this "beer." The palate was cold, but then again, that may have been more about the ice chilling the bottle than the "beer" itself. Oh, and finally, the substance was indeed a liquid. This was definitely not a solid or a gas. I would definitely recommend this "beer" to you if I indeed hated you with a gross level of contempt. Cheers!

A: The beer pours a very pale yellow color with a short lived white head. S: Like your usual light lager, plenty of corn and corn syrup. There’s quite a bit of straw in there as well. It’s very sweet with a little bit of white grape juice and some added sugar. Pretty much no malt. T: Not shockingly, it’s sweet, very sweet. Definitely some apple as well as the typical corn, corn syrup, and sugar. A somewhat cidery taste with a light tartness. It’s also a touch watery. M: The body is very light with medium carbonation. O: While the flavor wasn’t really good, it wasn’t offensive. I suppose that counts as some sort of moral victory.

Well... I suppose when you have to, it’s a fairly clean, not horrifying light beer to swallow down.

Reviewed from notes. Bottom of the Barrel here we come! Pours with the tiniest bit of yellow color. Smells of faint grain and a bit of cardboard. Taste is a bit more grain, and by grain, I probably mean the flavor and complexity of plain white rice. Feel is very, very light and overly carbonated. Drinks like carbonated water and tastes a bit worse. That about sums it up. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 10-08-2010
