Pear! very pear aroma! Little bright bubbly head at first aaannnnd it’s gone! Golden clear body. Tastes floral fruity and kinda bitter after taste. This Belgian is a bit more champagne like than others. Good summer beer. I would love this at the beach with finger foods. It’s a good beginning beer.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 krumbum (30) - truckee, California, USA - MAY 9, 2013
Smells fruity almost like a cider. Appearance light gold very very clear. Strong punch of flavor hints of plastic. Yeast end. Light on the palate leaves slight trace of after taste. Overall not really overly impressed but don’t hate it.

Appearance: Hazy yellow with a slight orange tinge and a small white head.
Aroma: Candy sugar, light malt and alcohol.

Overall: Fairly well done, but lacks complexity in both aroma and flavor.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Mora2000 (4059) - McKinney, Texas, USA - MAR 27, 2013
Clear yellow with a white head. The aroma is a bit strange. I get some sweet alcohol notes as well as some cinnamon, pepper and biscuit malt. The flavor is similar. I get some strong biscuit malt notes as well as some candy sugar and alcohol. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Fatehunter (757) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - FEB 1, 2013
Poured a thin head on a light straw colored body.
It smells like just milled grain, grass, alcohol and banana bread. Nice.
The taste is a muted sweetness, a little dry spice and finishes with a mild bitter note.
It has a crisp texture with moderate carbonation.
I like it.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ronaldtheriot (786) - Laplace, Louisiana, USA - NOV 25, 2012
Celis Grand Cru has a thick, white head and a clear, golden appearance, which hazes up when the sediment is poured in. There are many streaming bubbles, good lacing, and lots and lots of brown floating chunks. The aroma is of pungent, bready malt, sugar, spices, and citrus. Taste is the same, with a strong wedding cake aspect and decent enough underlying bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium, and Celis Grand Cru finishes dry, elegant, and drinkable. Also, the alcohol presence is there, but it’s not offensive. Overall, this is a really nice beer. I am sad that the company is shut down. RJT

Light in color and taste. I was surprised by the pleasant taste of this beer.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 chimaybier (108) - Redding, California, USA - AUG 3, 2012
6 pack purchased at BevMo in Redding, CA. I was excited to purchase this because I had not had it for at least 8-10 years, since the REAL Celis Brewery in Austin, TX closed, and Pierre has since gone to Heaven. So when I saw Michigan Brewing Company was brewing the beer, I said to myself, "Ok, we’ll see..." So, here is my rating: THE POUR / APPEARANCE: pours a very pale yellow, to be honest, it almost reminded me of a American Budweiser color. Good head retention, decent Brussels lace. AROMA / BOUQUET: Nose is citrus- grapefruit, lemon, grassy. TASTE: This beer is not as well carbonated as it once was. I remember Celis Grand Cru being almost "Hot" from the spiciness when I last had it- this does not have that intensity. PALATE: This version is also not as carbonated as the original version, it is a bit thin in the mouthfeel. OVERALL: This beer is a "lite" version of what it once was. It’s a good beer now, but not world class. Slight disappointment in this one.

Pale gold.. funky aroma, hint of vinegar, barnyard, spice, citrus.. mildly sour, lacks flavor; just not a lot going on at all, disappointing.
