Draft, on Premises at Michigan Brewing, which purchased the Celis brand from Miller. The owner, Bobby Mason, told me this was actually a pale ale, but some quirk in Texas law requires it to be labeled as a "Bock." It's darker than the Amber Lager I had just sampled. Still and all, its profile is a rather plain ”beer,” but it is malty and a little roasty.

Bottle: Pours clear, amber, with a short tan head. Caramel, breadheel aroma. Taste is flat cola, light malt, caramel. Nothing overtly bad, just very dull and bland.

Bottle. Sweet toasty fruity malt aroma. Hazy amber with a moderate off-white head. Bland tea-like malt flavor. Light body, moderate carbonation.

Inoffensive but bland. Grain, yeast, maybe a touch of spice. Or maybe it just dislodged some spices from between my teeth.

Rando7 (697) - Iowa, USA - FEB 26, 2012
Bottle pours slightly cloudy medium-dark copper with thin white head. Minimal lacing. Aroma a little caramel with almost an adjunct impression given. Taste sweet with caramel, faint spices and fruits. Palate thin with a slight tingle. Finish slight hops.

Kind of a light bock with faint Belgian elements thrown in. Pretty drinkable pleasant unassuming beer.

Pours dull copper wit no head but a dime sized spit-wad. Mild aromas of rust and sweet malt. Medium nectar with much carbonation. Mildly sweet tasting cakebread and caramel with a nice bittering component on the end.

Bottle from Total Wines, Sacramento. Pours light amber with a rich beige head and a nondescript aroma. There is a thin pale malt flavor with a hint of spices and a slightly bitter finish. Not much taste.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a small frothy off white head that leaves decent spotty lacing. The aroma is a bready malt with caramel. Thin mouthfeel with a light roast malt with caramel, raisin and brown sugar. Easy to drink with a spicy finish. A good Belgian from MBC.

[Bottle] Pours a light amber color without much head. Grains, bread and light nutmeg in the nose. Taste is of caramel malts, Belgian yeast, assorted spices and some toffee. Not particularly well balanced. Thin and watery overall. Dry finish. Fleeting hints that this beer is Belgian inspired, but in the end it reminded me more of a Ziegenbock.
