The aroma is spices, yeast, and light esters. Has a sweet tangy, tart citrus and fruit flavor. Really hits the palate at first. Light body. Thanks Steve. TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA

I love the fact the Michigan Brewing bought the rights to the Celis labels, and recipes, and has kept this classic witbier alive. This is a good example of witbeir, but some of the Celis magic is lost in my opinion. I remember the Austin, TX version of this beer being much more aromatic and flavorful. This beer pours to a very hazy, very pale, yellow color, with a thick, white head, and a moderate carbonation. The nose on this beer is inviting with light spicy aromas of corriander, and orange peel. The palate is soft, with good tart, and thirst quenching wheat malt flavor. Celis White ends with some more good wheat malt up front, and then ends with light spicy and orange flavor that lingers. This is a good witbier, but I would have liked a little more corriander and orange peel in both nose and finish. Not a good as the Celis I remember, but still an enjoyable brew, and a style that is very important to the beer world, and one that should continued to be brewed and respected. cheapdark (2015), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Oct 6, 2006 Updated: Nov 11, 2006Little bits floating in the light yellow translucent brew. Yeasty, slightly fruity aroma. No bitterness and the flavor reminds me of Yard’s saison. Finish is nice, leaves no unlikable aftertaste like so many others I’ve tasted lately. Bought this at the Beer Store in Moon Twp for $2 a bottle at the recommendation of the owner. Not yer typical pale yellow american beer by any means, has much more personality. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 12, 2006 Sweet citrusy, yet musty aroma that jumps over the rim of the glass. Golden yellow in color with a high white foamy head. First sip is a bold and citrusy. Taste quickly moderates in to just a decent wheat beer. Dry ending with no after taste. The flavor hangs on right to the bottom of the glass. vyvvy (2034), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 10, 2006 pours hazy yellow / orange with a light white head. The aroma has assertive coriander as well as some husky wheat malt and smooth orange. Crisp medium body with light carbonation at the end. Starts with pepper and coriander along with some astringency and light orange. There is also so wheat smoothness. The finish adds more spice, chalkiness and the astringency lingers through. I’m not sure of the ange of the bottle. There are some great qualities, but the constant astringency masks what could be a great beer. mtdshn (174), Moline, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 30, 2006 Bottle. Poured a clearish golden yellow with an average, foamy head that disappated quickly. There’s a slight acidic smell to it, but a good deal of lemon to make it approachable. Tastes of yeast, lemon, some minor honey notes. Very smooth, an easy drinker. Similar to his Hoegaarden however this one is considerably less cloudy and much lighter in flavor. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 29, 2006 I decided to try this head to head with the Michigan Brewing Celis Grand Cru so that I could compare the two styles... The White is a hazy light golden yellow with moderate carbonation. Foamy white head that recedes pretty quickly and doesn’t even leave mch of a crown. Aromas of wheat, banana, lemon, and clove. Flavor is pretty sweet initially (for a white beer), then kind of yeasty, then followed by a nice orangy banana and slightly spicy (sublte, almost like corriander) and sour flavor that finishes it out. Overall this is a pretty light beer that is above average for the style.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 20, 2006 Pours a slightly hazy yellow/gold into a tumbler. Bright white head quickly recedes to skim surface. Medicinial orange and fratroom floor notes. Upfront beer mung which turns slightly sour/citrus and then back to beer mung again. Not like the original at all - major dissapointment in a style made for summer.
