Commercial Description:
Celis White has been revived by Michigan Brewing Company with the blessing of its founder and his daughter, Christine Celis. The original Celis White, brewed in Austin, TX by Pierre Celis during the early and mid 1990's, ceased production when Mr. Celis closed his Austin microbrewery and moved to Belgium.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a matching cloud sitting on top. Nose is bready with lemon curd. Delicious, light citrus and banana wit, spicy and very creamy for the style. Great summertime refresher/quencher. Thanks alot to Kramer17801 for the bottle.

bottle. Aroma: Strong coriander and orange. Also got notes of cedar, clove, yeast and wheat. Pleasant aroma. Appearance: Light lemon yellow color and slightly hazy. Bright white head was full and creamy, but dissipated rapidly. A small cap remained for the remainder of the beer. Flavor: Orange flavors up front, coriander and slight spiciness withsome yeastiness, and a pleasant wheat flavor right before the finish. Hop flavor or aroma is almost nonexistent, slight bitterness in the finish. Palate: Medium bodied. Slightly creamy mouthfeel. Carbonation seemed a little low for the style. Finish was not as dry as I would have liked. Overall: A nice witbier with good flavors, but nothing about this beer stands out.

Bottle. Clouded gold with a small white head. Nose is grainy, slightly yeasty, malted and has a light citrus note to it. Taste is slightly tart and spicy with more grains, light yeast, sweet malts and soft lemony notes. Body is light and refreshing while being slightly crisp. Finishes with more spices, yeast big grain profile and light lemon. Standard witbier but well done.

Am I ever amazed by the high ratings for this beer. Hazy amber with a small white head. Fairly one note aroma of wheat. Light to medium body and watery texture. One dimensional flavor, too. Simple wheat beer.

From a 12 oz. long neck brown bottle with no freshness date. Made a good appearance, poured a cloudy pale golden with a foamy white head that settled into a thin bubbly lacing, minimal amount of sticking, good witbier carbonation. Had a tart, zesty, spicy and yeasty nose, lemon, orange and coriander with a sweet wheat malty backing. A malty crisp, dry and smooth lightish medium bodied mouthfeel, good witbier drinkability. Tart and slightly sour lemon taste with a orange zestiness throw in, coriander spiciness with a pinch of pepper, a backing sweet fruity wheat maltiness and dry yeastiness and a dry lemony and wheat malty finish, very quaffable. I never had the Texas brewed Celis, so I can’t compare, but witbier is one of favorite styles and this passes my taste test, an excellent summertime brew, for me, hits all the right notes. And at a affordable price too.
