Tmoney99 (4656), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Mar 1, 2006 Draft sampler at MBC. Poured a hazy white color with a small white head that diminished quickly. Soft wheat aroma. Light to medium body with soft carbonation. Good tart citrus flavor with a medium sweet finish. Mirage52 (123), New Market, Maryland, USA Feb 26, 2006 Poured from a bottle. Limited head, but has good carbonation and tracing on the glass. Taste is pretty lacking, more like a Sprite or a Ginger Ale than a beer. I’m not too big on this stuff. There isn’t anything offensive about the taste, and it’s actually quite good, but it screams "girly beer" to me. It should be served with an Orange. I have no problem drinking this when in Belguim or at a beer festival, but when I’m with friends, I’ll need a pale lager or something that resembeles real beer. The wife, who hates beer, could find a taste for this. She likes that its served with an orange. walleye (876), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Feb 11, 2006 from the bottle. poured a cloudy yellow, with a small white head that left no lacing. aroma, sour, wheat, fruits that are not ripe, citrus (,lemon) spices like cloves and got some orange. flavor, alot better than I thought it would got a nice sweet and tartness, orange, wheat cloves, sugar after taste. nice clean finish. RAYBOY01 (1813), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 9, 2006 Lightly roasted maltiness, cut grass, lemon, hay, sour/tart fruitiness, spices, orange peel, and coriander? Creamy texture. Very uninspiring and moddle of the road. hatchy (32), USA Feb 1, 2006 this was one of the first beers that i really loved and am glad to see it back. i’m sure i’m tasting memories along with the beer. slightly cloudy golden pour with a white head. very nice white with a sweet orange taste and a subtle hint of spice. very smooth to drink. rudolf (1734), Buffalo, New York, USA Jan 28, 2006 Super clear gold, thin white head. Nose has corriander, clove, lemon, orange, tea. Very sweet orange, light toasted malt, tea, corriander, yeast, honey. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Jan 25, 2006 (12 oz bottle: Liquid Solutions in Tigard, OR) Ten and a half years ago, I drank a few of the original Celis Whites. I hadn’t been into craft beer all that long, and man, my notes indicate I really hated this beer. I wrote, "Ill-tasting wheat beer with a terrible aftertaste; Worse than your average wheat beer (which is pretty bad)." Somehow I think that if I tasted THAT Celis White now, I’d think much more highly of it, but THIS Celis White isn’t all that good. It’s fairly lemony, acidic and tart, but also fruity (orange citrus) and lightly sweet, with just a hint of orange peel and no coriander to speak of, but what’s totally turning me off is the mild sourdough breadiness setting the base. The nose is somewhat lemony as well, but not much else is coming through. Much heavier than most Belgian style wheats, medium in body, lightly carbonated. The steady rise of carbonation bubbles can be seen though the hazy, pale yellow color body. A small, white head settles to a dusty covering atop the beer. A few slashes of lace streak across the glass. Neither authentic nor all that enjoyable, a bad combination to be sure because I can’t appreciate this beer on any level. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Jan 16, 2006 Bottle. White small fizzy head that mostly diminished with poor lacing, carbonated, hazy, and a yellow hue. Aroma was malty, sweet, banana, spicy, and clove. Flavor was sweet, somewhat acidic, sour, tart, tangy, banana, and clove. Smooth, thin mouthfeel. Light-medium body.
