beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jun 8, 2005 Sampled at le Mondial de la bière 2005. Pours a hazy pale yellow color with a ring of white lace. Aroma and flavor of ginger, spices, citrus and yeast. Light body, creamy texture, moderate carbonation. tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jun 7, 2005 Mild citrus-lemon, floral notes, spicy coriander and wheat in the nose. Opaque yellow-white coloured body with decent cover of bright white head that coats the glass. Spiciness up front with strong wheat flavour and mild yeasty esters. Crisp carbonation prickles the tongue. Medium body. Refreshing. Sampled at Mondial de la Bière 2005. Rastacouere (5551), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jun 6, 2005 Initially generous white head fades rather fast from the nicely hazy pale yellow body. Floral nose, like fluffy petals is quickly overwhelmed by seas of coriander. Mellow, soporific yet thick smelling. Sweet grain, coriander obviously, and orange peel mingle around smoothly in a slightly lactic atmosphere, though it is not sour. Round palate, soft carbonation biting the sides of the mouth. Average. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA Jun 6, 2005 I tried this and was not happy with it. Nothing out of mundane. Hazy yellow color. Small disappearing head. Nose of yeast... 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA May 25, 2005 Bottle. Hazy golden to yellow colored. Decent white head that fades fairly quickly. Lots of coriander in aroma along with lemon and a bit of bubblegum. Lighter bodied. Flavors run spicey also with coriander, a little bananna and perhaps some orangish tastes. Decent, never had the original so I have nothing to compare it to. desurfer (1067), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA May 21, 2005 Hazy, light yellow body with a small white head. Aroma of a typical wit, with orange peel, coriander, and other spices. Flavor is quite lemony, with a bit of hops bite and lots of spicy complexity. Finish is tart and sweet. willblake (2160), Belcamp, Maryland, USA May 12, 2005 05.07.05 12oz bottle, sample at Heavyweight open house. This famous brew has been annoyingly elusive, but, as MaiBockAddict says, eventually you’ll cross paths with all quality brews. This one is loaded with lemon and honey on the nose. Heaps of coriander. It almost seems to define the style and that verges on uninteresting. But, in fact, this beer is delicious and has a sweetness that I’m not used to in a wit; it’s still penty tart. Definitely worth a try for any fan of the style. Thanks John.
