I’ll show my age a bit here, and mention that I was a huge fan of the original back in the day. Michigan in my opinion has done a nice job recreating the brew. Huge nose of coriander, with a touch of orange and wheat, the classic combination, just pumped up a notch. Light hazy yellow, bit of gold, OK head that faded to a ring. Coriander and wheat wrap around each other, finishing with a citric twang, all melded together perfectly. This was, and now is, one of the very best witbiers brewed in my opinion. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 16, 2004 Bottle: Clear yellow with a touch of haze and hardly any head. Orange and coriander in the nose, prickly carbonation and a medium body. Starts and ends with a touch of sweetness and some acidity. Lizabeth (360), east falmouth, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 4, 2004 Hazy pale gold with a fluffy white head. Good lacing. Aroma is coriander, cloves, banana, bubble gum and lemon. Taste has notes of banana, apricot, cinnamon, orange, lemon and fresh baked bread. Has a slight peppery kick at the finish, but otherwise very smooth and easy to drink. JPDIPSO (4894), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 18, 2004 Lightly hazed straw color with a smaller wispy white head. Aromas of orange peels and white pepper. Pale malt and wheat mingle with citrus and subtle coriander. Mildly acetic finish to cleanse the palate. A decent summer quencher brew. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 11, 2004 Pours hazy/cloudy yellow with only med head. Very strong aroma I couldn’t pinpoint until my friend Pailhead mentioned teriyaki. Still a nice flavor though. A bigger head would have helped in app. But overall not a bad offering. Would try again. Anyway, hazy, light golden to white apperance - thick, milkshake like lacing. Bubblegum and clove aroma as expected which carries over to the flavor with some added spicy notes. Some banana notes come through in the end as well, Very thick mouthfeel, an excellent wit - sad to see it retiring. Pailhead (2583), Allen Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 31, 2004 Bottle: Has a peppery and almost teriyaki (or at least Jack Link’s Teriyaki Beef Jerky) smell to it. Quite different. Pours a pale yellow with a small white head. Malty and just like the aroma has a sweet teriyaki flavor to it. Lightly sour and banana in the finish. That teriyaki aroma and flavor is a little weird for a beer, but apparently I’m the only one smelling and tasting it. Brew4Dug (136), Houston, Texas, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 28, 2004 Pours easy with a head that dissapates quicker than it’s popular German and Belgian Wit counterparts. A bit too thin on the palate and very brief and dry fininsh. Would consider sipping on another on a hot Houston day (appx 250 of 365)as a refresher, but definitely not a session beer.
