Celis White has been revived by Michigan Brewing Company with the blessing of its founder and his daughter, Christine Celis. The original Celis White, brewed in Austin, TX by Pierre Celis during the early and mid 1990ís, ceased production when Mr. Celis closed his Austin microbrewery and moved to Belgium.

In 2002, Michigan Brewing Company acquired Celis, and Celis beers were back in production. Michigan Brewing continued the production of Celis beers until its closure in 2012. In June 2012, the Celis trademark made its way back to the Celis family. In 2014, Christine Celis began having Pierre Celisí original recipes brewed at Two Roads Brewery in Connecticut.

Iím rating based on the Canadian version that was brewed by Brick, and Iím obviously rating on memory as they stopped brewing it around the same time that the Texas brewery was closed down. God-DAMN, do I miss this beer! I was the first witbier I tasted, and still remains my favourite. Hereís hoping that Michigan decides to bottle their version and send it up to Ontario sometime...

Mine are getting old... about 2 years. Good tart, citrus flavor. Now being brewed in MI by Michigan Bewing Co. under the guidance of Celis.

Pretty much like Hoegaarden. Very fruity and cloudy. A nice alternative to Hoegaarden, much more power.

As i like white beer, i certainly like Celis White. Compared with the Hoegaarden series, this beer has a fuller taste. Also see my rating of Celis White (belgian).

Yellow hazy brew. Fruity aroma with citrus tones. Malty flavor with citrus and spices.

Lemon yellow cloudy with decent pure white lasting head and lite lacing. Sourdough and light cured meat yeasts, lemon sour ní fruity hops and faint malt aromas. Light body, doughy malty start, fainter sour middle and a rather weak finish. Sorry Belgian whites are just too wussy for me.

This beer will knock your socks off with its strong flavors: cloves and lemon, particularly. Great as a change of pace. Love that cloudy look!

At one time this was my favorite beer. I wish it was still around. I hope someday Celis comes back...sniff..sniff...

Iíve looked for this since I first read about it here. I still am not sure if the local store just íhad some in the backí as they said, or if Celis is indeed alive again. Either way, itís excellent. The aroma is spicy, and citrusy too but you can tell right away it isnít a typical citrus. There is a pungent, ever so slightly oily feel from the orange peel flavor, and I like it alot. Perfectly clear yellowish color, and the body is just as good as the rest of it. From start to finish this was worth the wait.

very citrusy (tangerine is what i sense) damn tasty, and at 1.29 a bottle...itís one of the best bargains out there! in a way though, this beer reminded me of a typical belgian ale as opposed to a Wit
