gearbike (413), West Bloomfield, Michigan, USA Oct 19, 2008 On tap. Refreshing but unspectacular. A bit spicy and some citrus. A bit too thin to hold any real flavor. Swalden28 (1442), McKinney, Texas, USA Oct 17, 2008 Bottle from Kegs & Barrels in McKinney, TX. Pours a hazy yellow with fizzy white head. Nice aroma of banana & Citrus. Flavor of wheat malt, citris tang, bubble gum, banana. with light bitter at the end. Mouth feel is light body with high carbonation, overall, a very enjoyable, easy drinking beer.. shalloWMeans (160), Independence, Kentucky, USA Oct 15, 2008 This is a top-notch example of the Belgian Wit style, one I’d recommend to anyone, and a great beer for summer drinking and pairing with spicy foods. (Try it with spicy buffalo chicken pizza.) It has an attractive sunny gold, hazy bright "white" appearance with a fluffy, soft head that’s smallish and short-lived. There is a very straightforward and fragrant aroma of strong yeast and grainy wheat with fresh, ripe banana, pineapple, peach, zesty lemon, and tart phenolic complexities. Nice... The taste is bold and bright, with refreshing, spicy, and gently sour lactic acidity. The beer is citrussy and grainy, with bready wheat, orange peel and fresh apricot. Nice, crisp and invigorating on the palate, with a light-weight, smooth body that hints at being watery but keeps itself in line with an empowering, big banana finish. As stated before, the spiciness of the coriander matches well with any good spicy dish, while the calming fresh citrus notes soothe the tongue and caress the palate. jeffwilliams11 (310), hooterville, Michigan, USA Oct 5, 2008 tap at hopcat. not my style, but this is a really great example of a witbier. the yeast really shines through, lots of malt and spice too... MrBunn (1523), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 26, 2008 Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow/gold with a medium/small head. Aromas are funk, lemon, spice and bananas. Flavor is kind of a goofy mix of the above. The funky lemon goes fairly well with the cloves and light wheat flavor. keepersj12 (774), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA Sep 11, 2008 Pretty good white. Nice pale color. Light and sour lemon taste. Very refreshing on a hot day. ansermadide (496), Kyle, Texas, USA Sep 5, 2008 (12oz bottle from Beer of the Month Club at home on September 5, 2008) Cloudy yellow with a frothy white head. Lightly carbonated. Lemon/yeast aroma. Lovely taste. A lot like a German hefeweizen. Great, clean, no sour aftertaste. I really enjoy this. A sure bet! BeerBelcher (930), Columbus, Ohio, USA Sep 4, 2008 Better than I thought it would be. I thought it would be super sweet like a Blue Moon, but this was really more spicey than citrus-y. Not bad.
It pours a light hazy yellow with pretty minimal Sprite-like head. Aroma is clovey. Flavor is some clove/coriander with a bit of malt backing. Mouthfeel is pretty substantial for this style, yet the beer is pretty drinkable. Really, not bad.
I got this beer as part of the Microbrew of the Month club.
