Received a growler of this in October and never got around to finding people to share it with until the end of December. I was told it wouldn’t last, but it was great! It poured thick and dark copper. The hops wafted up quite strongly. The hops were definitely apparent in the taste. Although strong, the bite didn’t bring the drinkability down at all. Overall, I enjoyed it and will be looking to pick up another growler when it’s offered.

A wondeful IPA, full of flavor and character. I found myself wanting more and more! Couldn’t get enough of this brew, from start to finish, crisp, smooth, and punchy to the last. Deliscious!

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2009 Single 12oz Bottle from MBC master brewery. Pours a thick orange/golden color with little white head. Strong, sugary, thick flavor of hops and citrus. A heavier Imperial IPA. Very good with the chipotle chili I had with it.

Thanks Greta! 2 bottles poured into a trappist glass. Pours a coppery-orange with a slim beige head. Excellent beer with strong citrus resin flavor. Finishes with a hint of alcholol. Outstanding treat that MBC should market for 2010

On tap: Aroma has lots of pine, grapefruit, citrus, and light pineapple. Transparent golden orange with a small white head with some yellow tint. Very good lacing. Flavor starts with a hint of pineapple with a solid fruity backbone. Finish is loaded with lots of piney and grapefruit hops. Very well balanced. Moderately syrupy mouthfeel. I wish these guys would bottle this along with their Imperial Stout.

Tap @ The Oak Cafe 11-30-06. Dark copper, 1 finger white head, great lacing. Tons of tropical, citrus fruits up front, pine, malt backbone could be a little bigger. Pine dominates the flavor up front, tropical fruit through the middle, caramel comes through a little bit more in the finish. Nicely balanced iipa, complex but almost sessionable.

12oz Handbottle dated 6/08. Nice soft, subtle hop glow, a touch spicy and full of burning resins. Ooh. Some very palpable warm Christmas Tree oil. Delicate and glowing. Pours a beautiful clear amber-orange, with a soft froth in manila. Lacy. Flavor is rich and juicy. A decent malt kick joins some really unique fruity flavors for a good flavor profile that holds long. Juicyfruit, candied orange slice, a bit of lavender soap, and some sweetgrass. Flavor is really fruity and juicy. Pale and tropical, followed by a long, long splash of maybe-just-a-bit-too-soapy passionfruit and chamomile. Nice. Alcohols are soft. Malt is there, but not too chewy. There’s a lot of interesting fruit complexity that is surprisingly strong. I’m loving this. Great Double IPA! Thanks Sean!

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2006 On tap @ coles. Buffalo, NY. Very aromatic nose loaded with piney hop. Medium body with with great color. Almost too huge of a grapefruit & citrus presence that hides the fact this beer is 10.4%. This fact could lead to big trouble since this beer goes down so smoothly. Great DIPA

Bottle, picked up from brewery (no label, but named Imperial IPA). Body is a nice copper color with a small and frothy head. Aromas are of citrus hops and a little touch of pine. Flavor is bitterly hoppy... grapefruit and pine... that give way to a caramel malt presence that seems just a bit underpowered for all of the hops. Alcohol is obvious and little attempt is made to hide it. There is a bit of a peppery edge to this beer as well. An interesting contrast to some of the very malt heavy Californian IPA’s in that the malt is there and gives a nice thick mouthfeel, but the hops still never disappear from the limelight.

12oz bottle shared by ryan on 8/24/08: Pours a transparent copper bronze with a spotty-lacing white head. Aroma of fresh resiny grapefruity hops and toasty sweet caramel malts. Body starts with good fullness and sweet caramel balanced with a juicy citrus hop flavor throughout before a crisp bittersweet finish. A very nice IIPA.
