Draft sampler at MBC. Deep brown color with an average off-white head that diminished slowly. Small roasted malt sweet aroma. Medium body. Soft roasted malt and nut flavor with a smooth medium finish.

draught. copper-brown with a small white head. the aroma is predominately nutty caramel and honey sweetness. fairly clean and simple almond notes along with a soapy wateriness. not particularly interesting.

I thought this was pretty good. I finally found out why I like some brown ales. There is quite a difference between AMERICAN brown ales and ENGLISH brown ales. Aromas were a bit weak and metallic. But the flavor only had a little metal in it. Lots of nuts and chocolate. I found it to be better than these ratings. Good. Thanks SuIIy.

Lots of chocolate... I really liked this beer. Delicious maybe a little bit too dark for a nut brown ale.

(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with Pailhead, thanks Kevin!) Sweet, caramely and toasty initially, which is quite pleasant, but it develops a bit of spiciness and some weird chalky flavor in the finish that I’m finding rather distracting. Too bad, because the initial flavor showed much promise. The nose is sweet, caramely, malty, and a bit earthy. Medium bodied and nicely carbonated, but there’s an odd chalky mouthfeel in the finish. Ruddy chestnut brown color is fairly hazy, and the light tan head pours small, settles to a ring and leaves no lacing on the glass. Wouldn’t be a bad brew at all, but the aftertaste is a bit unpleasant and has a deleterious effect overall.

Pour is a caramel brown with light off white head. Nose of caramel, malts, nuttiness. Flavor is very bland, some nuts and malt, hints of the alcohol but barley.

Dark brown amber with a big thick head. Sweet malty aroma with a sweet, light roasty caramel and metalic flavor and watery body. Metalic finish.

Had a malty caramel sweet aroma. Amber body with not much of a head to it. Decent mild caramel flavor that was easy on the palate. Decent brew.

UPDATED: FEB 21, 2006 Clear brown, frothy off-white, mostly lasting head. Good lacing. Aroma is nuts and caramel. Flavor is initially sweet. Nutty bitter finish. Fairly dry, short clean finish.

More amber than brown, nice fluffy off-white head. Smells like an American macro-lager. Somewhat nutty and slightly sweet. Not complex but not too bad either.
