Bright golden color, well rounded flavor and exceptional drinkability characterize this very refreshing ale. A delicate balance between pale malts and Hallertauer hops creates a very palatable, light, fruity ale. A great entry level beer for newcomers to fine hand-crafted ales.

11/07/2007: The color of Michigan Brewing Sunset Amber Lager is coppery orange. It has a blasé beer-y aroma and that is slightly floral. The beer has flavors of toasted bread/grain, dough, and is a bit sweet. It is medium-light in body and smooth and mellow in the mouth. Overall this seemed too light for an Amber or Vienna-style beer.

12 fl. oz. bottle. Rating #56 for this beer.

bottle-copper amber with a small froathy white head. nose of amber grains, light dark fruit and some earhy malt character. flavors are earthy, caramel malt, toasted grains and some light spicy hops that begin to build as the beer warmed. body lacks complexity and falls flat. othewise, this beer is not bad. some spicy hops show up as it warmed in the finish. not bad.

Bottle.br>Pours an average amber with a nose of rotten vegetable malt and ripe tomato. Bitter malt syrup on biscuits in the taste, with a finish of vinegar wine. Average mouthfeel. Average biscuity amber-style beer.

Pours a clear amber color, with a light tan ring of carbonation. Light, fruity aroma with grassy hops and cereals. Grainy flavor, with nice grassy hops flourishes and malts that sweeten as the beer warms, leading to a bready, fruity finish. Medium body. A solid lager.

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2014 Bottle: Amber (who would’ve thought) body with decent clarity & an eggshell cap that quickly recedes to nothing more than a thin collar. Aroma mostly comprised of a strong, caramel & Munich malt backbone with a littering of some spicy, earthy hops over top; almost seems like Saaz, but there’s a light, grapefruit-orange element that barely peaks through towards the latter half, making me think something else was used? Taste is full of more caramel, toffee, & toasted malt... Even a little more "roasty" than the aroma. A touch of earthy bitterness, leaves, & mild citrus peel. Toasted biscuit & metallic toffee finish. A little vapid, unfortunately, but not bad. Just... Meh.

(Bottle) Pours clear amber with a medium white head. The aroma holds caramel malt and light resinous, floral hops. Toffee and toast in the background. The flavour is of caramelly malt and light resinous, floral hops. The mouthfeel is clean and a bit card Toasted malt, light bourned sugar and subtle fruits on the finish. Light to medium bodied.

(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with Pailhead, thanks Kevin!) Not a whole lot of carbonation release when I popped the cap, and the pour has only yielded a quarter-inch tall, light-tan head atop the hazy, ruddy amber body. But fortunately, this beer has a well-carbonated mouthfeel, so I guess we’re fine. As expected, the flavor is fairly sweet and caramely, but there’s a nice toasty and earthy maltiness that adds a modest drying influence to the flavor, and the beer finishes with a touch of bitterness for some balance. But the sweet, caramely maltiness is strong and dominant from start to finish. Medium bodied and a bit sticky sweet on the palate well into the long-lasting finish. The nose is less dominated by sweet caramel, and is more malty and a bit dryer than the flavor. The head eventually fades to a small ring, and lacing is, uhm, non-existent. I like this beer quite a bit, especially the dry toastiness, but it’s still just a bit too sweet.

Bottled. Hazy amber in color. Somewhat sour nose. Some bready maltiness as well. Sweet and malty flavors up front. Finish gets a little cloying. Some metallic notes as well.

Draft at the MBC taphouse. Has a good amber color. A mild but pleasant "beery" smell to it. A fine example of what's basically a mild style.
