JaBier (4995) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JAN 20, 2009
12oz bottle sampled at the Hopsnobbery Collective stout tasting on 1.16.09. Gushes and then pours darkest brown with a huge tan head. Dry aroma that is somewhat sour. Flavor is a bit metallic and watery. Not much going on here. Not good, especially when compared to the other stouts we tasted.

Dogbrick (8658) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JAN 19, 2009
Sampledat the Hopsnobbery Collective Stout tasting on 01/16/09. This brew pours brownish black with a medium thin and fizzy beige head that burns away quickly. Latticework lacing. Milk chocolate and mild coffee in the nose. Thin body for a Stout and sort of creamy, with flavors of roasted coffee and malt. Just a touch of hops as well. The finish is short and roasty with a mild coffee aftertaste. Just average overall.

I like stouts and I was looking forward to relaxing after dinner with this stout and some chocolate but...a bit disappointing: dark copper color, a fizzy going, going, gone head; strong aroma of coffee, some chocolate; a light mouthful for a stout which I think was the most disappointing; the taste had some nice smoke and bitter quality and the finish was short

Clear dark reddish brown color, not black at all though. Frizzy light brown head. Roasted, chocolate a bit salty scent. Some pan fried potatoes. Malty, chocolate, smoke and roasted taste. MEdium mouthfeel, medium to medium low bitterness.
