2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a mostly dark borwn almost black with a fizzy lasting off tan head. AZroma is faint- light roast, some nuts and toffee. Flavor si very dry- fizzy and fades quickly but initially there is a nice roast and acrid dry black burn malts, which are kinda nice. Moderate hops in the finish as well. A bit bland overall.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a dark brown color with a tan head. Aroma is of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, and some sweet malts. Flavor starts off with the roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. Finishes slightly bitter but I would like more flavor coming out of this stout. Good but not great.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: OCT 18, 2007 Bottle from Friar Tuck in Savoy, IL. I opened the bottle, which was sitting still at room temp, and beer sprayed everywhere! Thanks MBC. Then it took me forever to pour it and get the head to settle. GEEZ! Pours deep brown/black with a fucking gigantic sudsy tan head that will not go away. Aroma of dry roast coffee and chocolate. Medium bodied with a lighter texture for a stout. Initial flavor of coffee, ash, and burnt malts that transitions to a moderate bitter middle, accented by some nuttiness. Bitterness carries through to the dry, earthy, and acidic finish. This lacks cohesiveness and depth for me.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
(12oz bottle) Small brown head atop brown-black body. Aroma is medium sweet, strong coffee/roast. Taste is medium sweet, coffee/roast, some ash/smoke. Bitterness is mostly from the coffee qualities, but a light earthiness creeps in as well. Medium body, some creaminess, coffee acidity.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at Pizza Plant. Black body, small tan head, roasty nose. Thin body, decent roasty flavors but too light to truly earn the moniker "superior."

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is actually a good stout I didn’t expect. This pours to an overly carbonated dark brown, with a thick tan head (that actually made it difficult to pour withoutr spilling over), a nice tan cap throughout the beer, and little lacing. Immdetiate aroma of choclate and coffee, gave way to primarily coffee as the beer warmed. Mouthfeel was tingly and malty sweet, and the taste was a continuation of the coffee flavor. This all blended nicely to create a nice, warming finish, with coffee aftertaste.
The only thing keeping me from rating this even higher was the slightly thin body. But all and all, while not as good as the Terrapin Wake & Bake, is the next step down for Coffee Stouts.

Bottle Black pour with a bit of a head, but pretty small. Aroma and flavor of roasted malts, very similar to burnt coffee. Very earthy. Watery mouthfeel and a bit bitter and dry in the aftertaste.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle from Michigan Brewing mulitpack that I picked up from a random gas station in Cadillac, MI. Pretty darn opaque black with small tan head. Faint but nIce roasty malt, with coffee and choclate. Same roasted malt in the flavor, some bourbon, bitterness and great balance. Full body and nice creaminess. This is so far my favorite beer from this brewery and most solid, tastes almost like an imperial.

This stout pours an eclipse black color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is roasty/burnt malts, coffee grounds and chocolate. A medium bodied stout. Malts are roasty and chocolate. Hops are earthy and floral. Seems a touch thin and a little astringent, Very dry finish. Lots of coffee flavors. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is very dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter
