Napoleon once called these beers "Champagnes of the North." Made with over 60% wheat malt and served traditionally "mit hefe," this pale, refreshing ale has spicy and fruity notes - the perfect summer beer.

On tap, poured into a sampler glass. The aroma is a traditional banana and clove combination. The emanates from a murky light pale beer (with a touch of brown) and is topped by a soapy, white medium ring. A good amount of head is retained, but it’s a runny lace that leaves a clean glass. The taste is a medium light sweet and light bitter combination. The beer’s texture is thin, with a light, creamy carbonation. The body is light, and finishes with a lemon, banana and spice combination. The beer is light, clean, and crisp with a mostly clean bready aftertaste.

This is one of the best American-brewed hefeweizens I have had. Similiar to Hacker-Pshorr Weizen.

From notes. First reviewed 6/27/2010. On tap in a 23 oz. Weiss Beer Glass. The beer pours a bright, hazy golden color with a straw tint in the edge of the glass. A 2 cm white head shows up with the beer, but fades rapidly. Ultimately, there is nothing left, and no lacing either. This could partially because of the acid from the lemon that it was served with and subsequently removed. Crystal, bready malt comes into the nose first. Bananas and cloves provide the more interesting part of the aroma. Very sweet. The flavor starts sweet with banana and wheat malt. Some cloves and a very slight citrus hop presence at the end. Medium carbonation. Soft and crisp bite furthers the goal of making it feel light and summery. Sticky sweet residue with a touch of oil. Overall, this is a good summer refresher.

one of the best drafts of a sampler there... an ugly light honey gold... nose of tons of banana a bit sweet... tastes great, balanced and crushable, try this one

Common cloudy hefe with very little head. Mild citrus aroma. Mild flavor, a bit watery for a hefe.

Tap at fins. Served with lemon wedge on glass. Notes of banana, clove, though faint, and swwet tangerines and wheat notes. Ok. Too sweet. A fruity fruit salad hefe. Ok.

Sampled at AleFest Chicago. Poured a hazy, deep gold with an average white head and streaking lace. The aroma was a touch of grain, spice as clove, and ripe banana. The flavor followed with similar notes, a bit of sweetness, a little tartness on the tongue, and some dryness to the finish. Medium body, good carbonation, and better than standard fare.

Hazy dark gold with a tight white head. Nice aroma is tart wheat with a whiff of clove and banana. Smooth medium body. Good flavors of tart wheat mixed nicely with a spicy citrusy sweetness. Not bad.
