crizay (1056), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA Apr 2, 2008 Black pour, medium beige head. Aroma is roasty, smoke and some coffee. Flavor is smokey throughout, licorice, some coffee and a big chalky aftertaste. The smoke dominates bad but also has a dry chalky taste going on, almost burnt coffee tasting with a big hop bitterness. Just to aggressive.
lordeche (295), Bridgewater, Massachusetts, USA May 3, 2008 Pours black with short-lived bubbly brown head. Aroma of burnt malt, dark chocolate, roasted coffee. Flavor is sweet with notes of coffee, licorice, and bitter hops. Decent amount of burnt malt, but it just doesn’t quite meld as well as some other Imperials I’ve sampled. Slightly medicinal, but by no means terrible. Vac (2097), San Diego, California, USA Apr 21, 2008 Bottle from Julio’s Liqour in Mass. Pours with an opaque, black body topped by a brown, thick head with lots of lacing. It’s slighlty sweet and roasty as hell with bitter chocolate notes and a bitter hoppiness. Full bodied, smooth and a touch dry. blipp (432), Buffalo/Rochester, New York, USA Apr 10, 2008 Bottle. Pours very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is brown sugar, burnt malt and coffee, coupled with a light sweetness. Medium body. Flavor is roasted malt, smoke, burnt wood, and coffee. Nicely done. imadeadguy (126), Westampton, New Jersey, USA Apr 4, 2008 22oz. Pours motor oil black with a frothy brown head. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, and some coco.
