[Bottle] that was a bonus I think from JCB. Pours a deep brown, nearly black with a surprisingly large tan head of small, creamy bubbles that lingers nicely. Aroma initially is a bit vegetal, but I let it warm and it quickly dissipates, leaving behind lots of fruity esters, some sweet malts, and a hint of peated malt. Flavor is significantly more smoky than the nose would suggest, with a great fruitiness that really complements the beer fantastically. The mouthfeel is rich and smooth, and the finish leaves a hint of smokiness and a touch of bittersweet chocolate. This is an extremely well done beer.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
light smoke/sweetness , light tar, burnt caramel notes ... balanced like a bowling ball on a knife in a bag at the bottom of the ocean in concrete .. abv is slightly apparent .. "símore schnapps" ... pretty tasty stuff, but lacks the smoke level and fullness of most scotches...

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle shared by a local, thanks dude. Poured a deep, murky caramel-brown color with a thin beige head that faded to a ring. Bland aroma that only presents hints of caramel malt, a hint of smoke, and some light peat. Smooth, lightly sweet entry with some light caramel and a soft undertone of peat paired with some smoke that transitions into a light dry finish. Low carbonation and decent on the palate. Surprised at the high average for this beer, because it seemed a bit lackluster in most elements. Perhaps that could be chalked up to a bad bottle, but something seemed off.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
This ale pours with a very dark brown, almost burgundy color. The head appears well above the beverage, a very light tan. Flavor is very simplistic, lightly sour, smoky. Very basic example. No malt depth.

22 oz bottle. Poured darker than I was expecting for a Scotch Ale, but Iím not disappointed because I like íem darker. Cream colored head that hangs around a while. Nice smooth and semi-sweet flavor, smooth carmel and fruitiness. Very nice.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice aroma, fruity, malty, bread like, caramel, some cocoa. Color like Coca Cola, brown, with red tint, slightly translucent. Decent tan head. Taste is fruity up front, caramel, malts, toasted malt in particular. Very nice. The finish is low on hops, but has a nice warming alcohol effect. Good medium thick mouthfeel. This is the only time the alcohol comes out of hiding in this beer. Very nicely crafted, a good example of the style.
