Cruzan59 (122), Lititz, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 25, 2008 Pint+ bottle from 6-Pack and Subs, Lancaster, PA...pours deep copper with off-white head...smell was very earthy with citrus, pine...nice smooth hoppy flavor with a little something extra to compliment the dark color, like a caramel...pleasant surprise for buying on a whim.
grandridge (105), Port Clinton, Ohio, USA Jul 3, 2008 Pours darker than most dipas with a large head. Hops/malt sweetness present in the flavor. Thick rich palate which is nice. A really good DIPA but the hop flavor is no match for a hopslam or a dreadnaught but a very drinkable beer. Definitely one of the better dipas out there. oteyj (234), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Jul 2, 2008 22 oz- Snifter. Pours dark reddish ruby with one finger beige head. Aromas extremely powerful- lots of piney hops with a dash of malt as well. Flavor is quite harsh but overly so. High alpha acid count with lots of piney and citrus bitterness. Not overly complex- just blastingly hoppy. Palate is tingling but smooths out to a nice dry finish. Decent but not spectacular. hoptimus (50), Grand Island, New York, USA Jun 13, 2008 Bomber. Served in a snifter. Poured a deep red-amber with a light carmel colored head. Floral, citrus like nose with some burnt wood and sugar. Very nice hoppy flavor with cherry and grapefruit. Good malt balance. A little alcohol towards the end. If this is a IIPA its definitely the darkest colored and most malty I’ve ever had. I would say that it’s more like an American Strong. Looks a lot like Arrogant Bastard to me. Very good beer overall. Haslinger (434), Syracuse, New York, USA Jun 12, 2008 Bottle, aroma is some hops a bit sweetish, good, some malt a little floral taste. Pretty good, Would buy again I did not like the label thought I thought it looked cartoonish and didn’t fit the beer. riversideAK (1444), Shoreline, Washington, USA Jun 6, 2008 Bottle from AlexdeLarge. I think. Nice copper color with a tan head Aroma of caramel and toffee, butter, and floral, piney hops. Good bitterness up front. Floral, pine, and some grapefruit rinds are followed by toasty caramel malts with a slight touch of butter. Hops overpower the malt and linger on the palate. Dry with some coating resins. Good stuff.
