ABUSEDGOAT (1917), California, USA Oct 20, 2005 You know... I’m not sure if this beer is labeled right based on other reviews. It definitely is called this... but this review will be a lot different than a few I’ve read. First of all... MY GOD. The cap was capped so tightly that the bottle FREAKING BROKE. This brewery has already killed one of my openers, and luckily this one wasn’t gonna break. After I carefully poured it and avoided glass shards it gave a cloudy dark amber body with a small head. Didn’t seem much like a light ale to me. The beer itself was fairly one dimensional, but certainly enjoyable. Big vanilla aroma. Flavor was the same. Maybe some hints of lighter fruits in there. Really... I’m totally baffled by this one. It wasn’t that light bodied. It certainly wasn’t golden or blonde in color. Perhaps they changed what they put in this because most of the previous reviews say this beer sucks. In this case I’m more confident it’s a different beer than me losing my mind. Usually it’s the other way around. dirtymike (2019), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Sep 20, 2003 Orange in color with a small white head.Hoppy, floral, yeasty aroma with a bitter finish. UnionMade (621), Connecticut, USA Apr 26, 2003 I had no expectations for this beer. Light beers usually suck, but this was part of the "shades of pale" mix pack, so what the hell. Pours a pale golden color with a surprisingly copious head. Aroma is faintly reminiscent of some lagery style, but not quite. So far it's what I expected. Flavor is a bit more powerful and richer than I had expected, so that's definitely good. Mildly lagery, with a bit of estery fruitiness and top fermented goodness. Flavor dimishes quickly, leaving no aftertaste. Carbonation is high, which compliments the light body and crispness of the flavor. I'm surprised that Middle Ages can afford to make a light beer, but they did a damn good job with it. Completely exceeded my expectations. ericnixon (711), Lenox, Massachusetts, USA Sep 21, 2003 This one looks like some kind of old-person fiber-boosting drink to keep you "regular". The aroma was slightly malty with a light malty taste. austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA Oct 28, 2002 Tasting three Blond Ales side by side today, I’d say this lo-cal White Knight holds its own quite well. More hopped than other blondes. This Middle Ages Brewery needs to ditch the cheezy labels, though.
