Bottle shared by Andrew. Dark amber/light brown pour with a khaki head. Gingerbread and chocolate on the nose. Some sugar, cedar, and nutmeg. A bit of caramel and some dark fruits, too. Sweet flavor of gingerbread, chocolate, and raisin. A bit of anise, nutmeg, caramel, and some metal. Maybe a bit thin.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750mL c&c thanks to BMan1113VR. Pours a flatter murky brown. Bubbles, weak carbonation. Nose is actually really nice- anise/licorice, pumpernickel, dark gingerbread. Taste is soapy, pumpernickel, paper, dark cherry, dark bread. Almost Biere de Garde in feel with a rich maltiness and hefty dark bread flavor. Palate is too papery and dry though for this malt forward style. Abbey Dubbel would require some sort of Belgian yeast character, which this does not so Biere de Garde seems apt.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Aroma of dark malt with Belgian yeast
This is a dark brown beer slightly darker than some traditional Belgians
Great taste if you love Belgian yeast. It really shine through in this beer.
Mouthfeel is medium to heavy.
Great interpretation of this style in an American made beer.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Aroma is meaty and dark fruit with hints of funky yeast. Pours a brown with beautiful red highlights and a non-lasting tan head with no laccing. Tastes of nuts, roasted malts, and notes of dark fruit and cherries. There is also a subtle biscuit aftertaste. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Overall, this is one of my favorite Middleton brews.e

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a dark red color with a tan head. The aroma is full of dark fruit, with some toffee thrown in. The flavor is similar. I get some dark fruit and cherry notes, as well as some grapes. There is also some toffee and nuts in the flavor, as well as some alcohol notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
