appearance: reddish brown, lingering creamy white head. aroma: malty caramel, toasted nuts, brown sugar, some earthy hop notes. taste: as the aroma indicates. finish: lasting toasty, nutty/caramel sweetness, that earthy, slightly grassy note cleaning things up. notes: Really enjoyed this one. Always on the lookout for a good Irish Red or malt-focused American Amber, which is my top sleeper style. And this was darn good. Draught at Barrel and Bushel beerfest, 2016.

12oz bottle at Pizzeria Paradiso - Old Town. Poured a dark ruby color, almost brown, but translucent enough. Aroma is lots of sweet malts, some nutty notes. Lots of caramel notes. Smooth, easy to drink. No unpleasant bitterness to be found. Actually a decent Irish Red.

Caramel aromas, earthy hops. Clear ruby with a fairly lasting white head. Dry, kind of savory. Medium bodied.

Draft at the source. Clear deep amber briwn, tan head with solid lacing. Aroma of caramel. Taste is toasted caramel and subtle pepper. OK.

ben4321 (5642) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JAN 20, 2015
Location: Draft at Capital Ale - Innsbrook, 1/17/15

Aroma: The nose is fairly light, with some toast/bread, caramel, and a bit of earth
Appearance: Pours a rusty copper color with small off-white head and minimal lacing
Flavor: Tastes similar, with a light-medium sweet, caramel and toast, and a mild bitterness
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has decent mouthfeel, and a soft, lightly dry finish
Overall Impression: I found this to be a fairly average beer overall. You could certainly do a lot worse, it isn’t flawed or anything, it’s just fine.

10/5/2013. Sampled at VA Hop Fest. dark amber color. Malty aromas with dark fruit and light spice. Fruity and malty flavors, bitter towards the end. An OK beer.

Poured as a 2 oz sampler at Virginia Beer Live 2013. May have been suffering from palate blowout. Better than the kolsch. Strong coffee/toffee flavors.

Picked up a growler of this for Slutfest - but after the brown and Granite, no one was really excited to try it, and thus it went home with me. Opened on Sunday. Medium, clear red. Aroma is bread, with some earthy hops. Flavor is a match. Quite reminiscent of Killian’s before it went to heck. I well executed Irish red. Didn’t enjoy it as much as the Kolsch, but solid, and restored my faith in this new brewery after a couple of disappointments. Wish I had brought this and the Kolsch instead of the brown and the granite!
