COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
First of the 7 Deadly BeeRs. Indulge your demons: Gluttony is the overpowering desire to consume more than one requires. 200 IBUs.
Gluttony Triple IPA overindulges the palate with profound malt, powerful hops and abundant body. Its deep decadent golden orange color presents an appetizing invitation for extravagant enjoyment. Its aroma entices with citrus, pine and alcohol while the flavor provides a smörgåsbord of sweet malt, fresh tangerine/grapefruit and a resinous hop character that lingers well beyond the finish.

Bomber. This is a big and boozy IPA. Plenty of everything. Hoppy and malty with the fresh hops pushing of to the citrus side. Nice, dry finish.

Big thaks to Beerlando for sharing this rarity!!! Poured a hazy burnt orange color. Aromas of citrus hops pummel the senses, good heavens. The hops dominate all with this beer, but the maltiness does make a slight appearance. Way over the top.

Pours a lightly hazy red-orange color. A dense, foamy, off-white head shows good retention, leaving sticky flares of lacing on the glass. Aromas include a caramel and toffee malt base, with massive notes of grapefruit and orange hops. Flavors follow suit, showing an intense hop profile, yet an equally huge malt billing that comes damn close to completely balancing things out. Grapefruit emerges as the dominant hop variety. A huge beer in every sense of the word, the mouthfeel is medium-full, moderately carbonated, and very smooth. The 10.5% ABV is well hidden, enhancing drinkability. Overall, a very solid, over-the-top, huge IIPA.

bottle@Hoboken#1-pours a retaining patchy off white head and hazy gold color. Aroma is sweet pine, secondary medium malt. Taste is alcohol, somewhat bitter pine hops, secondary medium malt.

Zinister (1423) - Houston, Texas, USA - MAY 31, 2008
Bottle. Thick amber colored pour. Nose of serious hops...floral, pine and citrus...with malts hiding in the background. Flavor was big bitter hops...pine, resin, pithy fruits...although I admit the hops do not have much depth to them. Finish lingers, but it is not complex. Solid, but better DIPAs that are far more complex.

22oz bottle thanks to Tim... medium cloudy caramel brown pour with a thin off-white head.... aroma was hugely citrusy with some additional pine resin and pineapple. some caramel malts also came into play but played a lesser role.... bitter pine hoppy flavor that lingers on the palate well beyond the finish. a hint of astringency in the end as well. just a hint of malt underneath it all.

Bottle, shared by BrianK. Light amber pour with visible particles therein. Aroma is citrus hops and other nice floral hops. The flavor has floral hops, grassy hops, and substantial bitterness. Good version of the style. No alcohol noticeable.

PilsnerPeter (3028) - Flushing, New York, USA - MAY 12, 2008
Bottle at Paul’s Hoboken Gathering: Nice deep golden pour with floaties and a dense tan head. The aroma is pure resins/bitter hop oils. No fruitiness or nuances of hop character. Creamy body with a harshly bitter flavor. Oily bittering resins, and harsh peppermint. They get a 10/10 for bitterness but a 0/10 for fruitiness or hop quality and diversity. A homogeneous bitter mess. IPAs aren’t only about IBUs, they’re about utilizing the hop to attain full character and complexity.

Bottle thanks BrianK. This hop bomb pours amber and hazy. Aroma Hopbomb, pine, honey, and some sweet malt. Flavor is just that but with an incredible domination of 200ibu’s wreaking havoc on your palate, an experience thats for sure.

UPDATED: MAY 6, 2008 Bomber sampled in mid April ’08....seeing how the first ratings were in April ’07... I can only assume this is a yearly batch? It sure didn’t taste a year old. Either way - I seemed to dig this more than most. This is hefty but crazy drinkable. Packed with a hefty malt dose, but manages to pull through the bitterness. Tangy fruits dance around with the sticky, caramel covered pine cones. This shit is really, really solid - gives me thought of fresh yulesmith amped up a notch. Considering they were going for such a fat beer, I can’t find anything extremely unenjoyable or wrong with this. Except that the fact that one glass is enough.
