3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
My Bottom Line :
Dark chocolate, caramel and bready cereals envelop this Imperial Stoutís resinous hop bitterness for a well-crafted albeit unremarkable sipper.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A veil of foam tops the blackness.
-Smoked? The smoke character is way too subtle to deserve a prominent mention on the label.
-Alcohol is well hidden by the rich sugars.
-Floral allusions are built by the hops.
-This is easy to sip on even though the mouthfeel is plump.
Bottle. Thx to whoever shared this at Coffee District!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAR 28, 2012 Had again Dec. 2011. Still good, quick notes, rich chocolate and sweet malt, underlying smokey notes. A bit sweeter than I remember.
Pours is a viscous opaque black with a thick dark tan head and solid retention. The nose has light hints of smoke and ash, roasted malts, light chocolate notes with some sweet anise and strong wood behind. The taste is well balanced with roasted malts and a rich chocolate brownie component. Dark fruits and faint smoke notes accompany a woody finish. The feel is full bodied, smooth and creamy, semi dry finish and gentle carbonation. Very complex, very integrated, and very balanced. Well done.

Bomber shared with friends for Dosbeerigos 29th Bday. Not a big smoked beer fan but this was just fantastic. Super dark and thick pour, very oily. Perfect amount of smoke mixed in with vanilla and chocolate. Just outstanding.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured into a CCB snifter. Black with a small brown head. Aroma of bitter chocolate, booze, dark fruits, burnt coffee and a whisper of smoke. Flavor follows the nose, but is much better than the nose would indicate. Bitter chocolate, dark fruits, coffee, wood, smoked malts and booze are all in perfect harmony. There are other flavors going on as well, but I found myself trying to dissect the flavor of this beer instead of relaxing and enjoying this treat. I would have liked to try this about 6 months ago to get more smoke from it. Full body with medium carbonation. Great beer and worth seeking out.

Thanks to AmericanBrew for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a deep black color with a tan head. The aroma is full of dark fruit and anise, with a lot of chocolate and roasted malt mixed in. The aroma is fairly sweet and is very enjoyable.
The flavor is also very complex and interesting. I get a ton of roasted and smoked malt, as well as some sweet milk chocolate notes. The smoke is complimented by a little bit of dark fruit. The alcohol is very well hidden and the beer is very easy to drink.
Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Very glad I got to try this one.

4.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bomber. Drank 10/27/11. Diggity dank dark opaque core slightly translucent edges. No head, pretty thick lacing. Nose is your standard oaked imperial-coffee, vanilla, wood, chocolate, and alcohol. But not too driving...probably the weakest aspect. Alchohol is a bit overblown on the nose, but hey, itís 12.6%.
Whoa, Nelly, this beer is looooooooooooooong. Sweet molasses, dried fig, vanilla, wood, and yes, bourbon (this isnít bourbon aged is it??), maybe some anise? Thick mouthfilling and just the soft side of chewy. Alcohol is noticeable, but not hot at all-much better integrated than on the nose. Coffee, dark chocolate, and vanilla linger forever. So glad I was in Anchorage when this was around to be had. So sad I may never see it again.
Note: I didnít get any smoke (?!)...but I was by a campfire part of the time, but stil smelled everything else and even on smelling later inside got none....doesnít diminish my love for this.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Thanks to CaptainCougar! Totally black pour with a small brown head. Nose holds bacon, roasted malt, and bitter bakerís chocolate. The flavor brings forth more mocha, smoky campfire, and sweeter molasses notes. Quite viscous; I dig it.

Thanks CaptainCougar! Uber black pour with a nice tad head. Tons of caramel chocolate, mild smokey malts, and booze in the aroma. The flavor holds Sweet boozy milk chocolate, caramel, rich meaty smoke, and a roasty finish. Thick rich palate with a chalky finish. Boss.
