Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Masterski. Pours an incredibly pitch black with a small brown head. Sweet and salty heavy roast aroma. Very solid body, carbonation is low, thick and syrupy, sweet roast, quite some raisins and other dark fruits. There’s and underlying yeastiness. Warming alcohol finish. No real smokiness though. 180911

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2012 A: Deep black body. Medium brown head forms and slowly receded. Just a few traces of lacing. S: Strong notes of milk chocolate and smokey malts. Hints of red wine, port, dark fruits and oak. T: Similar to the nose but a bit more muddled and muted. A bit of chocolate, the smoke moves a bit toward the background, and the port/red wine like notes mellow out. M: Medium bodied. Smooth texture on the tongue and a pleasant but soft fading finish. O: While pleasant and enjoyable, I was underwhelmed as I found the flavor profile a bit sloppy and unfinished. Perhaps too much was going on here to get an integrated presentation.

From a bottle back in January. 50th rating for this brew. Black color with viscous brown head. Smoked meat, chocolate malt, campfire wood char aromas. Thick chewy mouthfeel. Awesome chocolate fudge, tobacco, smoked meat, dark coffee, dry wood, deep roast malt flavors--just another great stout from these guys// fanfuckingtastic

bottle 3/4/11 at rbwg. black pour with a small light brown head. aroma and flavors of soy, chocolate, wood, peppery spice, soft elegant wood, molasses and roast. there is a bit of a tannic bite on the finish and some mellow smokiness in the aftertaste. it is medium/full bodied but spice cuts it up pretty well. 8/5/8/4/16

Bottle shared by Beernbourbon at phaleslus bachelor party. Notes of choclately molasses, syrup, a touch of vanilla. Light meaty smoke character. Light barrel character. A tad too sweet for my liking. Good not great.
