COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Alaska’s Most Wanted Series.

First brewed as part of our 2011 World Tour series, MOSCOW Rye Russian Imperial Stout is a hefty, opaque black liquid that pours slowly and soulfully into your snifter. A high percentage of spicy rye and roasted dark malts create a dense, chewy yet elegant winter wonderland of flavors. And from AK we say: Let it Snow…in Moscow.

Bottle. Pours inky black, medium creamy dark brown head, dissipates slowly, nice lacing. Aroma is roasty, dark roasted malts, chocolate, some anise, a bit of tobacco, molasses. Flavor is light sweet, medium bitter, roasty, dark chocolates and anise, woody tobacco notes. Perhaps some hints of rye, but not a strong component here. Lingering bitterness, but pleasant, not overpowering. Not very hot at all. Fullish body, creamy mouthfeel. One of the better non BA impy’s, IMO.

Bottle at Hamilton’s. Pours almost black with a creamy brown head. Tastes very smooth, like burnt toast, coffee, dark chocolate, booze, light ash. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like sweet chocolate, dark coffee, roasted malt, burnt toast, alcohol.

Bottle. Moderate toasted cereal and molasses for the malt, light to moderate resin for the hops, light earth for the yeast, with a hint of tar in the background. Head is small, frothy turning wispy, brown with good slippery lacing and good legs and is mostly diminishing. Color is just about black. Flavor starts lightly to oderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly to moderately bittersweet and lightly acidic. Palate is full, creamy, with a soft carbonation, and a chewy and sticky finish. Everything about this Imperial Stout is spot on, Bold in the right places and nothing offensive about it.

Spicy and fruity, yet dark roasted and bitter at the same time. Lots going on - a little abrasive, perhaps, but a good brew overall (if a bit expensive).

Shared by Maek at the Craft Beer Picnic. An inky pitch black pour with a ruddy rusty head. 11% a bit boozy, very savoury with a bitter rich dark chocolate(80-90%cacao), slightly chalky taste , very rich, candied plums & pitted fruits with some roasty coffee notes. Quite complex. Wonderful. Boozy but good.
