4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bomber from The Davis Beer Shoppe as "most wanted". Pours thick and black with a dark tan smear. Aroma is very dark malt, but there does seem to be rye spice. It is oh so full bodied. Full bodied +. Flavor is dark thick treacle, with rye notes (what are notes? Ask Merlin). The flavors are so intense that my head reels. It’s like drinking liquid black bread. With treacle and the black bread is clearly rye bread. Deep breath. It’s frickin flavorful. I cannot comprehend this ale. So I had some beer before this one. Damn good thing. Sort of like vaccination. Doing this beer cold might be fatal! Ok. Enough fun. It’s a really heavy duty beer. If it were BA it would be super killer. If the bourbon would be detectable. Collapse in uproarious laughter at this point.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours with a inky black hued body with a large and retentive brown head that leaves great lace. Aromas are strong with tobacco, earthy, spicy and bitter chocolate. Freshly baked bread, moderate esters. Flavors are astringent and ashy, tobacco, bitter chocolate. Well hidden alcohol. Not sweet despite the massive body. Viscous and creamy mouthfeel.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber into a tulip. Pours black with medium brown head. Nose is tobacco, roast, rye. Flavor is rich with bread, ash, roast - not all that sweet. Mouthfeel is a bit thin for an imperial stout. Overall average.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz. bottle, Alaska’s Most Wanted- Pours inky black with a forced very small dark tan head that reduces to a collar. Aroma is the typical dark chocolate, coffee, molasses, maybe rye. The taste is chocolate milk, creamy as hell, roasted malts, milk duds. Body is very thick, it feels like ink in my mouth, carbonation is low. Overall this is smooth, very drinkable, no harshness at all, very good.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Always like to try stuff from this fearless brewer. This was a bomber of the 2013 release. Pours black and thick, with a brown head that has fades quickly. Aroma is really nice dark chocolate, malt, vanilla dried fruit and alcohol. Flavor does not live up to the intensity of the aroma, however. It is mainly relatively subdued roasted malt, hints of dark chocolate, and maybe I get some rye; not really so sure about that. Very balanced. Mouthfeel is slightly thick and velvety, I like it. Carbonation is low. Finish is moderately sweet with all the flavors holding up for a while. Overall this is good, but I guess I was expecting to be more impressed, especially for the price.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Thick, oily, opaque pour. Enjoyed 3/23/13. Dark coffee crema fading head and no lacing. Molasses, coffee, caramel, and a touch of vanilla on the nose. Chewy palate, complex taste following nose with definite umami qualities. Rye not particulary noticeable. Very good with both chiles enogados and salted chocolate. Great RIS....glad I have another in the cellar...plenty of life left in this one.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz. bottle, pours jet black with a small ring of brown head. Aroma of deep roasted malt, soy sauce, cocoa nibs and subtle rye. Flavour is incredibly dense, full of deeply roasted malts, pungent rye and some burnt espresso notes. There are some caramel and soy sauce notes in there as well. Super dense and an all out assault on the palate. Awesome stuff.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The beer is black with a thin beige collar. The aroma is roasty, ashy, smoky, with a bit of charred malt. The rye character is lost, for the most part. The flavor is bold and aggressive. Full bodied with some alcoholic heat in the finish. Heavy roast and char flavors. A touch of chocolate. Overall, this was a robust stout that was dominated by char and roast, and while these flavors are enjoyable, they overrun the rye component and other more subtle attributes of the beer.
