COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Alaska’s Most Wanted Series.

First brewed as part of our 2011 World Tour series, MOSCOW Rye Russian Imperial Stout is a hefty, opaque black liquid that pours slowly and soulfully into your snifter. A high percentage of spicy rye and roasted dark malts create a dense, chewy yet elegant winter wonderland of flavors. And from AK we say: Let it Snow…in Moscow.

22 oz. bottle. Pours black with a beautiful rich dark brown head. Just about the darkest head I’ve come across on a beer. Very pleasant aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and rye grain. The flavor is very similar with roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, and rye grain. Well rounded on the palate. Full bodied. Delicious!

On tap at Apex, last day of their stout festival. Dark viscous brown with a mocha head. Dark chocolate, roasted malts, smooth but bitter, hints of coffee. Mild carbonation, full body, incredibly easy to drink, nice chocolate and roasted malt finish with some dryness.

Bottle. Pours pitch black with brown head. Nose and taste of rye, roasted chocolate, chocolate bread, toasted wood and toasted nuts. medium body. Slightly dry finish.

A really great brew. Comes out thick and dark. Slight carbonation that comes up creamy brown. A really well roasted brew. Smooth and warming.

Bottled. Nose of brown sugar, molasses, some smoke. Sweet and sugary flavor, roasted. Soft, smooth, and full. A bit too sugary, but good.

Pitch black color, very dark brown head. Huge rye, dark chocolate, roasted malt notes. Full body, very warming, tons of rye, roasted malts, bitter hoppiness. Very spicy, the rye really shines.

2013 edition from bomber. Pours like motor oil, utterly black and opaque. Chunky three inch pecan colored head dissipates to a skiff quickly, leaving moderate lacing. Aromas of yeast, tobacco, cider, shoyu, spice. Flavor rich and heavy. Tastes of chocolate, raisin, cider, grapefruit. Not as viscose as it looks. Smooth and rich, fine, mild carbonation.

2013 release. This is black with a broken sheet of toasted graham foam. When I first cracked this beer and took a whiff off the bottle, it smelled great. Now that I’ve poured the beer and let it breath for a few minutes, we have chocolate banana oatmeal. There’s some molasses and booze there too, a touch of spiced grains and warm milk. Flavor is sweet, roasted, some metal, some oats, plenty of cocoa and burnt toast, maybe a touch of coconut as it warms. Medium on full bodied with really low carbonation - this all comes together beautifully; honestly a really, really fine body and feel with a wet finish. I’m kinda torn on this beer, on one hand I really dig it, on the other, I think it’s an absolute strikeout for the style. Fuck it, grading to taste.
