Bottle: Poured a thick black with a thick light malt brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate. Taste is a rich dark chocolate with coffee note. There a nice spice finish on the tongue.

Bottled. Nose of brown sugar, molasses, some smoke. Sweet and sugary flavor, roasted. Soft, smooth, and full. A bit too sugary, but good.

Pitch black color, very dark brown head. Huge rye, dark chocolate, roasted malt notes. Full body, very warming, tons of rye, roasted malts, bitter hoppiness. Very spicy, the rye really shines.

Bottle - Liquorice, dark chocolate and some light soy. Jet black and a dark brown head. Dark roast malts, spicy, espresso and alight sourness in the finish. Big and bold.

2013 edition from bomber. Pours like motor oil, utterly black and opaque. Chunky three inch pecan colored head dissipates to a skiff quickly, leaving moderate lacing. Aromas of yeast, tobacco, cider, shoyu, spice. Flavor rich and heavy. Tastes of chocolate, raisin, cider, grapefruit. Not as viscose as it looks. Smooth and rich, fine, mild carbonation.

This is black with a broken sheet of toasted graham foam. When I first cracked this beer and took a whiff off the bottle, it smelled great. Now that Iíve poured the beer and let it breath for a few minutes, we have chocolate banana oatmeal. Thereís some molasses and booze there too, a touch of spiced grains and warm milk. Flavor is sweet, roasted, some metal, some oats, plenty of cocoa and burnt toast, maybe a touch of coconut as it warms. Medium on full bodied with really low carbonation - this all comes together beautifully; honestly a really, really fine body and feel with a wet finish. Iím kinda torn on this beer, on one hand I really dig it, on the other, I think itís an absolute strikeout for the style. Fuck it, grading to taste.

On tap at apex. Holy shit, this stuff is dark, and I've never seen such a dark cap on a beer. It looked wonderful as it spilled over the glass a bit. Aroma of dark chocolate and grain, not specific to rye. Taste is supreme dark chocolate and coffee, with a heavy wood backbone, and rye spice skin. Very dry finish, and cripes does it coat the mouth.

22oz bottle pours a very inky black with some creamy, tan head. Nose of licorice, sweet, slight smoke, pepper, malt. Flavor is the same, malty, licorice, pepper, smoke, toast, coffee, crackers, brown sugar. Full bodied finish.

Bottle at Darkness Day, high boost in full effect at this point. Pours black with tan head. Strong roasted malt and chocolate aroma. Flavor is also strong, thick dark chocolate and roasted malts. Would like to try this again!

I have not seen a darker head than this.d darker than milk chocolate, which the beer smells like, also molasses & black pepper, roast malt dominates the flavor, with resin hops, alcohol & brown sugar. very nice textureóoily, a slight bubble. burnt sticky alcohol finish
